Thanks. I knew I was starting to have problems when the little fingers on both hand would start to go numb while my elbows were resting on my recliner arms. Toss in the arthritis and it is absolutely no fun! Percoset let’s me sleep at least.
Ron, I have both handguns and long guns. My primary concern was my NFA items and my handgun collection that could not be replaced. I do have some more expensive long guns and optics that will also go into my safe so I did want some room for them also. Like you I primarily wanted shelf space. I asked Mike to add one more full length shelf across the top for more handguns from what you see in the photos. I also didn’t need a lot of fire protection because my gun room used to be my screened in porch. It has a raised cement pad for the floor. If my house caught fire the safe will be on the cement pad which used to be on the outside of my house. My house won’t get enough sustained heat where my safe will be to fully heat up such a large safe that has a 1" total body thickness and a door that is 11/2" total thickness to damage it’s contents. Chesterfield is actually in SC but it is close to the border with NC. Now with my safe and it’s upgraded electronic lock, locking system with redundant relockers my safe is totally pry proof and the only way to get into it is with a blow torch. In 40 years Mike said that he has never seen a safe like mine successfully broken into. Mike will deliver or ship a safe for you. I don’t have any monitory connection with Mike. I have only meet Mike the one time but being in the gun world for close to 40 years I have known about Mike and his reputation as an expert in his field. He really loves his job and is very easy to work with on a custom safe for you or anyone else. I hope that this helps.

I ended up getting a Home Safe that fits a few handguns and extra mags. Fits great in my closet and has a simple keypad entry, which works fine even half-asleep. I wanted something without crazy bells and whistles, just quick access at night. Works for me and keeps stuff out of reach from the kids.

thats awesome about the safe. I’ve got a couple safes similar and they are sturdy enough.. truth be known i need more, but either way, they do what they’re supposed to for me, so im happy with them.
I do know someone who needs a big safe and unfortunately this person says he aint got enough room… but ya know what, i bet we could fit one in there somewhere 
Getting a nice big high security safe doesn’t always solve your problem. Many times you still don’t have enough room in the big safe. I guess that isn’t really a bad problem to have.
