Hey guys I just want to point out a few little things about the H&R pistol brace that I have discovered since I got mine.
The pictures are not great because I didn’t try hard and nobody cares, this is just for information and not a popularity contest.
First off this is a cheap brace. I know people do not like the word cheap so I will use the word minimalist. To be honest minimalist is a much better term. Cheap implies low quality. The quality is good with this brace but the design is a very, very basic and minimalist.
First off the adjustment mechanism seems very janky out of the gate. The spring is loud and it does feel crunchy, it is not smooth or fluid whatsoever. After you put a drop of oil on the pivot point and one more drop of oil on the spring this thing feels amazing. On that plastic Pivot Point put a very very small drop. On that other point put a good drop or two and let it flow down inside where the spring is.
The pin lifts and that “nut” slides down. If you look at the very top of the pin you can see there’s flat sides machined onto it. Grab that round nut and turn it 90° once you do that you can lift it straight off.
She’s too smart for me. She hides everything because she knows I will use it for something it was not intended for. So I went with Plan B and stole my kids pencil.
They do! @GuitarGuy Tried it right now. I’m always so used to a workaround that I instantly figured I would have to make some sort of backplate. I never attempted nor was I planning to attempt using the M-lok nuts. I’m glad I did now. Thank you for the question lol. You may need longer screws this particular setup it just barely caught the first thread and that was it.
i’ve not tried that one yet, but i like it. especially with the m-lok slot on the back and the additional qd port on the front. to me that should basically be the new standard stock that everyone should be running with instead of the old style standard stock.
This brace has the least wobble compared to others I have
I did this right now. Point pistol barrel to the ground, buffer sticking up. Sba-3 brace just slid down from gravity alone. H&R brace had to be physically pushed down the tube with your hand. It will not slide into place by itself.
The Aim stock is very nice and a great addition to my rifle. I like the qd attachment points and Ive ordered a type 1 and a type 2 sling mount to give me the ability to attach my sling to either side.
Now, getting to the original subject, I have the brace in hand it definitely needs the oil treatment. It is going to be a tight fit on the tube and not an easy slide on.
You all have a great 4th of July and celebrate the Spirit of '76!
Eta: the qd attacments on the stock are already good to go so I ordered some unnecessary parts. Oh well, I’ve done worse things
