I live around the corner from a PSA store. I have always had a good experience with the workers there. However, I have found the website’s store inventory information next to useless. On numerous occasions, I have seen ammo in stock on the website (not “low inventory”) and gone to the store and an employee has said they don’t have the item. Employees have told me that the system is highly unreliable and that they complain about it but it never changes.
I have called the store to check inventory but the robot just says “check the inventory online”.
This has become very frustrating. PSA shipping rates are very high and I would love to buy more things if I could skip shipping by buying in store but it keeps being a waste of time.
The employees said: “post something on the website; maybe they will listen to a customer”. This is me, a customer, posting on the website
The Greenville store is great but I definitely don’t plan a trip based solely on the websites inventory stats. I get it that it would be a major software investment to get to real time numbers for every location.
@sean.psa is aware. The problem is the amount of volume that is done. When AAC ammo first came out, there were lines at Fernandina starting at 930 in the morning when the store didnt open until 10.
I get that volume of sales can be an issue but in the case I’m mentioning I went 3 days in a row and the stores were not swamped. Website said stuff was in stock and the workers were shocked that it said that.
To be clear, I’m not expecting “real time” inventory. Can we settle on “real day” inventory? If the website says that have it at time of opening, and I’m there when they open then they should have it (as no one could have bought it in the intervening time).
There are lots of factors in play here. If its an FFL item it may be “in stock” but not out of the weapons room and on the floor yet. If its non ffl and been delivered but not on shelves yet then the same.
If you talked to a new employee they may not know. All the stores have been undergoing a little bit of reno so things have moved around. Fern now has uppers out on the floor instead of the wall.
