As stated earlier in this thread, hornady xtp bullets work great in the AKV. The bullets have more taper and a smaller hollow point making them more forgiving during feeding.
Been reading through thread and looks like this is an issue many have. I have been searching for HP ammo that won’t suffer from failure to feed. I can run critical duty but cannot run subsonic hp’s. Can’t run flat nose ammo. Is this an issue than can be fixed or is it just a live with it issue? I want to run subsonic HP with suppressor. Any body been able to figure out a fix for this problem.

It’s what every pcc in 9mm is known for.
I guess I’m learning that. Pretty depressing after investing so much in making this my HD choice.
Its still a great HD gun. But the majority of 9mm pcc’s out there by multiple manufacturers have a hard time with HP ammo.
I can’t like this enough. I’m dealing with the “surprise, the AK-V doesn’t feed common HP ammo like HST’s and you should’ve known better because we don’t state it anywhere on the product page” lines from the warranty department.
I bought this thing as a suppressor host for HD use and I am now being told that not only will it not run HP ammo (and I’m a moron for thinking it should), that it shouldn’t be expected to run flat tipped ammo like 147g subsonic either!
Lol what a joke. I did not buy it for a round nose ammo range toy. If it’s only good at that then they should say so on the product page. Saying "it’s a known issue in the industry” isn’t acceptable and it’s dishonest. This isn’t true of EVERY PCC out there, that’s a flat out lie. I’m not “in the industry”. It’s the job of the “industry” to make important information like that known to consumers so they can make informed decisions and not be stuck with a $1000 range toy.
Wait…what? I dont have a single gun from multiple manufacturers that feeds flat tip subs well. Most of them dont…PSA, Colt, FN, 1911s, etc. I shoot 147gr HPs in my AK-V just fine. The XTP HP made by AAC is fantastic.
Right from the warranty horse’s mouth, I was told today “that they do not enjoy feeding any flat nose or hollow points due to the feed angles”.
Any flat nose or HP. Any. That’s a pretty big statement for those of us who bought this stupid thing to run HP’s in for a suppressed HD gun.
They just get to rinse their hands of it and say it’s not a warranty issue and keep playing dumb when I say “well can you at least update the product page to warn people who don’t know this supposedly widely known industry wide issue with PCCs?”
They cant guarantee ALL ammo. What i am saying is that some does work. Even going back through this thread multiple people have said the Hornady XTP bullet (which AAC uses) works well. For the record, I have have multiple brands of AR 9 barrels and the only barrel that feeds everything was done by Rudy at Macon Armory.
Both of the AR9s I have will not reliably feed anything but RN/Ball ammo. One with a Faxon barrel, one with a PSA barrel.
Basically every single 9mm PCC forum out there has myriad threads about this (making the guns run HP and Flatnose), for EVERY brand of PCC.
Jeezit Priest, the Colt 1911/Klönz has literally something like 25-35millions of copies of it circulating, and it’s an incredibly rare one of THOSE that will [reliably!] feed anything but .45 Ball. Some of those struggle with that….
Thank you.
