I’m happy for PSA and the AXR….but

But I would be even gayer if they released/un-canceled the JAKL 2.0 they got me all excited about. Long stroke :hot_dog:

that version of the Jakl 2.0 is simply going to be called the Jakl 1.5, with really the only main difference being is that it wil no longer be a propriety lower, and instead will continue to be able to use AR15 lower receivers. thats the only real difference between the canceled 2.0 and the new 1.5 if that makes sense… personally i think its a much better way to go especially with the release of a short stroke AXR series.

When they released the JAKL 1.0, I waited awhile to grab one because I wanted to learn more about it. Then when I bought one and actually looked at it for myself I was like “man PSA is really onto something with this system” then I shot the thing and it was really nice and different from all of the DI and SSP guns I’ve shot. Then they announced the JAKL 2.0 with the proprietary lower, less screws in the upper, so overall in the 2.0 it became a more simple design.

Regarding the proprietary lower:

Yeah some people were upset about the 2.0 but I really think the 1.0 was a stepping stone towards ultimate greatness. In my opinion they made the right call in furthering the development of the platform as a proprietary lower with AR part compatibility: Trigger, Safety, mag release button, etc… you get the picture. It was just a more rugged design. PSA tries to please everyone, which there’s nothing wrong with and I’m glad they listen to us as customers but guys… see the potential in what you’re working on and showing us even if it pisses a few people off. They did something similar with the X9 and they cancelled it but they brought it back after realizing the value of what they were developing because people spoke up about it. If they decide to bring back the 2.0 that they showed us I guarantee you they will get their monies worth out of it, and my money too, and probably yours as well… eventually.

Sorry to double post lol I’ve just got a lot to say. The AXR lower reciever looks really similar to what they showed us with the JAKL 2.0. If it were up to me I’d take it a step further and make some modifications to the 2.0 upper and fit it on the AXR lower. Now you’ve got the AXR SSP, and AXR JAKL. In other words the JAKL 1.0 would be like the PA15 series, and the AXR series rifle is like the Sabre series but for the JAKL2.0. Now you’ve got both long stroke, and short stroke options.. and you could swap the uppers! It would just be a better, more robust rifle while retaining the long stroke piston system in the JAKL as an option. Boom everyone’s happy and PSA saves some money on development. I would support that 110% as well.

i see your point and I can say that i agree with you the way that you explained it. Unfortunately though the masses yelled loud enough to have things reversed. I see both positives and negatives. I think the evolution into the 1.5 will be just as awesome still, even though its on an AR lower still. I will wait to reserve judgement until i see the 1.5 released. I have a feeling itll be everything you wanted, minus the receiver compatability. THat is what I’m hoping anyways.
As for the AXR, being that its technically the jakl 2.0 im all for it. I’ll be wanting the pistol version first. the short stroke piston is what im really looking forward to firing and seeing how much different it is from my first gen jakls .. either way, im super excited for them all.. and glad i have my new olcan to hold me over until they come out. Im gonna hve to start selling organs here somewhere though.. or hit the lottery or something.

judging from the second post, i dont think you quite understood what PSAs doing, as you literally described what they were doing with the Jakl2.0 becoming the AXR.. and having the Jakl2.0 innovations and changes other than the short stroke, and a proprietary lower, going to the jakl 1.5, so we’re getting the best of both worlds. the Jakl1.0 stays, the jakl 1.5 is a combination of the 1.0 and what was the 2.0, and the AXR ssp = Jakl 2.0 on its own receiver.

No I totally get it, they said they were going to cancel the 2.0 and do a 1.5 that is compatible with AR15 lower receivers. HOWEVER, I still think utilizing a newly designed lower receiver would make the JAKL 2.0 a better rifle than the JAKL 1.5 could ever be, for the reasons I’ve stated above. Imagine you buy an AXR but later on you want the JAKL 2.0 all you’d need is buy is the new JAKL upper and pop it onto your existing AXR lower and vice versa. Essentially compatibility between the two platforms. This can be done with the same proprietary lower they’ve already showed us with the revealing of the AXR series at shot show.

What I’m saying is:

The difference between the JAKL lower and the AXR lower could literally be the engraving if they redesigned the JAKL 2.0 upper to fit the AXR lower receiver. For example: PA15 Lower vs Sabre Lower, both are 7075 T6 anodized aluminum receivers, I can take a Sabre upper and put it on a PA15 lower and vice versa, the only physical difference is the engraving because the AR15 is a platform developed for modularity.

…but wait there’s more! The AXR is supposed to be a platform PSA is developing for modularity as well.

Taking it a step further, The AXR lower design could be a NEW great modular rifle platform like the AR15 for both the JAKL, AXR, and whatever else PSA decides to come up with. And obviously AR uppers wouldn’t fit because the AXR lower would be a completely new 21st century rifle platform. Just like the AR15 was a completely new 20th century rifle platform when it first hit the market.

They’ve got the manufacturing and procurement capability to do it, unlike Magpul with the ACR.

I don’t think PSA understands the goldmine they are sitting on here.

yeah im following you, but the public spoke and wanted the Jakl to remain on a standard ar15 lower… where as the axr, that we are seeing, im wagering would have been the lower at least for Jakl2.0.. thus i dont think we’d of had an AXR if they’d of kept up with the 2.0 as originally planned. To me, I dont mind the switching the Jakl 2.0 over to a proprietary lower, as if i want one on a standard ar15 lower, i’d simply buy the jakl 1.0, that said is evidentially what most people didnt want.

all that said, the main difference between the axr uppers and the jakl uppers is the jakl is long stroke and the axr is short stroke.. so to me, the axr practically is a jakl too, so no major big deal calling it something else. im still getting everything i want even if its under different names.

How cool would it be if PSA were to get the rights to the ACR or even better the mosada original version.. that would be cool.
