Can someone fill me in about these several models?
They haven’t been in stock in years.
What are they?
Those are the original run 1911s. PSA sold most of them as separate frames and slides. They offered them in stainless and carbon steel.
The second run was m1911 with slightly different dimensions.
3rd run was made by RIA and is sold as The Admiral.
what would you like to know? I have a blued premium that ive yet to shoot. I was almost too late to that game, as i had bought the last one that was in the stores and had to have it shipped down from greenville for me to buy. but yea, i have one…
I believe these were their hand fitted first run guns, back when they were making all the 1911s in the house. As GG said, psa sold a lot of the frames and slides stripped for folks to build thier own guns too, which I had also done, before i had bought the blued premium gun. Its a beautiful gun, has the crossed cannons on the slide behind the rear serrations near where the hammer sits. I know the stainless were forged slides and frames, and i think the blued premium was forged as well, because it was their premium line and cost me around 6 bones if i remember correctly. I know who made the frames and slides for them, but im not at liberty to disclose that information.
back when i was building my 1911 stainless from the psa parts, so was GG, and we helped each other do so. its where we cut our teeth building 1911’s and since then GG has excelled at it and built like 4 of them. You have to have a good eye for detail, and a heck of a lot of patience, and not be afraid of repetition. its not for the faint of heart, and i think that really freaked some folks out who bought the stuff cause they thought it would be easy to assemble like an ar. Its anything but that.
lemme see… i may have a pic or two… hang on…
not the best photos, but you get the idea off the photos.
Not so much I want to know anything, but they still have them listed for sale, but out of stock. I was wanting to see if were coming back.
That’s a complaint I’ve had for a while. Clearly there’s a ton of stuff on the website still that’s been permanently discontinued or unavailable for whatever reason, yet is still listed as just “out of stock.” Maybe I’m missing something, but would it be that hard to have the site guys go through and clear those out?
i hope they would. they are an awesome little 1911 line if you ask me. I really like them.
you’d be surprised at the size of the team that takes care of the website stuff… but it may be a bit difficult to do that. over all though i know they’re trying their best, and we’ve given them some ideas about the website, hopefully one day we’ll see some of those ideas take hold. one idea was instead of saying out of stock on something they have yet to come out with, have it say Coming soon, thats just one little change i think would help a lot out.
Doubtful they will come back. Just my opinion. Ive built 4, worked on 6 or 7 for folks.
yeah you have done excellent work too if i may say so myself. especially even learning how to checker yourself… quite amazing brother. you do great work.
sadly i think you’re right. i dont know if they’ll ever come back. I would love to see PSA at least sell 1911 kits that you can build on your own. that may be awesome… but who knows.
Nice, how much are they when in stock?
