What is some favorite LD&C gun gear out there? We all know you get what you pay for. But, assuming “durable” also includes safe and effective, what’s your favorite LD&C gun gear? It’s all relative, but what’s the best bang for buck in slings, scopes, dots, mounts, lights, stocks, guards, rails, trigger sets, etc.?
I really like Sheriff of Baghdad slings. Shrek has a hard time keeping them in stock though. I also like his combat bands.
Magpul Glock mags. I just wish they had better round count windows.
Phase 1 BAD assist lever for the AR. It replaces the entire bolt catch instead of wrapping around it like the Magpul brand.
@brad I use his QD versions. Have one with the ALG swivels and one with his new flat swivel.
Honestly,
I have been testing 2 slings over last year - carried in both a little over 100 hours per sling.
CVLife fast adjust sling- both work fine and are under $20 shipped
Bought the Sig Romeo5 red dot right here from PSA - for WAAAYYY less than I saw it at Bass Pro. (thank you staff at BP in San Antonio though, for showing me some red dots and explaining the differences)
The best example I have, is the Chinese brand, OhHunt. Specifically, their free-float handguards and charging handles. So far, I’ve used two of each. Whether they are durable enough, it’s difficult to say. It’s only been about 6 months, but I do use them almost weekly, and so far I have not seen signs of unexpected wear or damage.
Light and cheap? Oh, definitely. No doubt the aluminum is considered substandard to some, but these aren’t on my defense weapons… yet.

I use 550 cord for my sling attachment points on my AR. They are quiet, they don’t scratch the gun, the sling attachment devices are tethered just off of the gun so they also don’t contact the gun….keeping silent and clean. If anything happens to them……they are easily replaced in the field. ( I have never had any issues with them). I use 550 cord sling points on all my ARs & AKs. LD&C !

Printed a representation of my scope reticle along with bullet impact points for 100, 150, 200, 250 for Super S & Sub-S. Taped it to the stock with clear tape. It’s a quick reference at minimum cost…works beautifully. LD&C
Hard to notice…but a foam earplug…or a piece of a foam earplug will provide security for the pistol grip trap door. That magpul door likes to open unnecessarily……but the foam ear plug placed in the lock prevents it from unlocking unless you intentionally want it unlocked / opened. LD&C
“Break away” “COASTERS”
Scope throw lever. Buy a pair of them for $12. Excellent throw lever for your variable power scope. Installs in minutes….can easily be removed or re-installed. Light strong, durable & cheap.
Pretty much anything Magpul.
Sig Optics
I’ve got a Romeo 5, Juliet 3, and my next purchase will be a Romeo 7
Shock cord is handy stuff. I bought a roll of 3mm and various whatsits to go with it.
@iznthesky pointed out this thread to me after he saw my Sock-of-Protection for my red dot optic. He mentions: “Love that optic protector…… never run out of those……they are inexpensive and they work.” Also, it keeps the optic from getting banged around in my stealth carry bag. Rolling up the sock will give you several layers of dust and impact protection
I can’t speak to durability, since I don’t have any of the ones listed, but if anyone is is looking for an inexpensive ambi charging handle, go to www.walmart.com and search for “butterfly pulping handle”. I’m sure they are made in China, but I found it an interesting marketing idea.
The product descriptions are hilarious!
It makes me wonder what other gems are hidden there.
Oh, I totally ordered a couple of those things - Chinesium or otherwise, It’s a thumb up the Giant Evil Retailer’s arse!
I will let you guys know how good/lousy they are sometime after Cinco de Mayo….
I ordered a couple too…they arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). We’ll see how good they are, but 2 of em for $28 bucks? I couldn’t pass it up.
Anxious to hear how the pulping handles turned out!
I’ll post a report and pics, but it’ll probably be Thursday.
