Longer length .300 BLK Jackl anytime soon?

Just recently got back into buying guns and stuff after taking a few years off and have been wanting to either build or buy a new .300Blk and just stumbled upon the PSA Jackls. I see they have an 8.5" but I’d much rather have 10.5" or more.

I see they’re coming out with new 5.56 variants like crazy and today came out with 14.5" with two different flash hider options and I was just wondering/hoping that they will do the same with .300BLk anytime soon?

I was about to order a DD .300 upper, but found these Jackls and seen PSA post about them on instagram yesterday, but I’m impatient and want to order something soon to start training with a .300 and was just wondering if anyone has any news or info on future longer barrel .300 Jackls and if so, when is it expected to release?

Thanks and God Bless!

Welcome to the forum @porksmush

Not to my knowledge.

if i were you, i’d still probably go with the 8.5… versus the 10.5 we’re talking only 2 inches, and you really wouldnt notice much difference in my humble opinion after you simply swap out the flash hider/muzzle device with something that is a hare longer. that alone could make up the 2 inches.

what im really waiting for jakl wise would be one in 5.7x28 caliber. that to me would be the ultimate jakl lol.

i know PSA is planning on a lot more Jakls as fast as they can make them , but like you sometimes i get impatient too and have to make due with whatever is available at the time. Why do you want a 300 blk in a barrel longer than 8.5 but shorter than 13? im just curious is all…

again, welcome to the forums!

I’d love a 12.5” 300 as well. To answer another’s question, ballistics with 10-13” barrels and SuperSonics are the real deal, far superior to shorter lengths. And the added benefit of a longer hand guard, which is just as important to me.

Really no need 300BLK burns it powder from a 9" barrel. I’ve killed a BUNCH of Texas hogs with 8" 300BLK and thermal. 8.5" with supers is about perfect.

“Need” is relative. I don’t like short hand guards as I prefer an extended arm and c-clamp grip, reason number one for a longer barrel and subsequently hand guard. Respectfully, 9” is a good compromise between portability and ballistic performance but all the powder is not burnt at that length. You will get increasing velocities as you lengthen the barrel, there’s roughly 400-450fps between 9” and 24”, so there’s powder still burning. Is that extra length worth it? Depends on the priorities, I prefer a 12.5” for both longer hand guard and at least 200 more ft/lbs with supersonic loads vs 9”. Not enough length to push my subs super as well, I’ve seen that happen in a 16” barrel.

It really isn’t the barrel length, it has more to do with the load. If you’re using a slow burning powder then yes you could still have some powder not burnt out of a 8-9" barrel. But if you’re using lil’gun or H110 its a pretty clean burn. Just like with anything a longer barrel will give a bit more velocity due to the pressure alone. In 300BLK you’ll start getting diminishing returns after 16" regardless of load makeup. The little bit of velocity gain is out weighed, in my case, by portability of the gun. 8" barrel with 8" suppressor equals a very small portable small package the same size as a normal 16" carbine, but much quieter.

I get the shooting style and that is all personal preference. I don’t use the C Clamp style so I’m fine with shorter handguard.

The problem is the NFA though.
Folks like me live right on the state border.
We dont want to get into legal trouble if we travel back and forth to friends and family with an SBR thtats been registered.

Braced pistols suck compared to a properly braced rifle with a real stock.

They already do 13.9 and 14.5 Pin & Welds for the Sabre lines.
Why not make a Jakl in .300 with a 14.5 and a Pinned and welded Xeno and KeyMo muzzle device, making it legally 16 so you can shoulder a stock and hunt with it, but also drive back and forth?

.300 AAC at 14.5 with a K-can is pretty darn quiet. Even with Supers like the 110 Sabre tip or the 115 JHP, they would put down some damage but still be as short as possible.

Until the NFA gets repealed or amended, this is something PSA and ourselves just have to deal with. Its the reality we live in.

They dont have to P/W it, they could just offer a pistol in 14.5 and the customer can go have it professionally pinned and welded.

14.5 pistol uppers!

I want to build on the just-announced bullpup lower and it requires at least a 10.5" barreled upper. Furthermore, I do not want a SBR bullpup. We need a 13.7 or 14.5 300BLK upper. PLEASE. For the bullpup use, it would be helpful if the gas block adjustment was accessible from the front of the upper.

Welcome to the PSA forums @johannk :cowboy_hat_face:

No point to a long .300 BLK- it’s optimized for an 8.2" barrel by design, and even if you made a 26"’ barrel from a blank, you would still need a pistol length gas system.

well if memory serves bull pups have to be 26" from tip to tail minimum.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see a 300 blackout in 16 inches if we dont already. again if memory serves there is already a 556 one in 16"

Again… to not have to SBR.
