The M1a is one i have not owned. maybe one day i will, it would go good with my garands, and fit in the void between them and my AR15 reproductions

With parts interchangeability any rifle that went through a depot would be a Mixmaster from various manufacturers. What mattered was reliability, safety and acceptable accuracy. They were tested to insure this.
I’m sure M1 Carbines went through this process the same as the Garand:

That was a educational read! Thanks for posting!

correct, they would be mixmasters, however the rifles were this even before going through the first depot. the GI’s would routinely clean thier rifles together by throwing the parts all in a pile of each part and as they moved to cleaning the next part they’d grab one, so im not really one who thinks a true GI rifle is one that has all springfield or all winchester or whatever parts, the fact they are this way and was used in the war, korea, and many times in other countries by other soldiers in their conflicts or defenses, to me is historically more accurate than one that is all matching. this is why i like mine how they are… all mixed up. lol. i get most guys wont think this way, and want the whole names matching on every part, but i disagree. lol.
