How many of you can say you carried one in VN? The one I humped around had a selector, too.
i cannot imagine having to hump one of these in combat.. but i bet it was amazing to shoot. That said, if im not mistaken, the only reason why we’re getting it is cause H&R probably produced them for the government before back in the day.. and thus they already have the rights to the rifles.. much like the M1 Garands and a lot of other items they may have produced as well.

Yeah and the ammo was much heavier also. 2x as heavy and of course bulkier as we all know but the weight alone was pretty crazy. 100 rounds of 7.62 is almost 5.5 pounds and 100 5.56 is about 2.5 pounds. Of course I seen a lot of squads or at least platoon sized units in our forever Iraq/Afghanistan war still had a marksmen with the SOCOM M1A1.
