Most holsters have no issue fitting the gun with an extended mag release. What CAN happen if you get too large a release, or with certain body types and holster fitment is your body can press the mag release in.

I have an Eclipse Delta holster, and it clears the mag release by about 1/8 inch.
The Glock #1981 OEM extended mag release is about 3/16" longer than the original Dagger release (which many would argue is too short).
It’s long enough to easily access, but not so long as to be problematic.
