I have a pair of Dagger Compacts I got at the same time ,both have had at least 300 rounds thru each without any hiccups at all ! Now I decided I wanted flat triggers in them based on recommendations I bought the Shadow Systems Elite trigger assembly and at Matt’s suggestion I only used the flat triggers on the OEM trigger bars install on both frames went easy no issues at all .
Fast forward to this morning at the range both guns will fire fine but the magazine drops out every other shoot or so from both guns , tried different mags same issue both guns ! Any ideas ? Short of reinstalling the OEM hinder trigger .
@donaldhollar Welcome to the forums sir. hope you enjoy your stay!
sounds like you have 2 very nice daggers. the trigger should have nothing to do with the magazine catch. I’m not sure why they are not locking in. Have you taken the slide off one, and inserted a mag entirely and locked it in, and then shook it and what no to see if it randomly will fall out? i’d be curious to find out if the magazines are actually locking in when the slide is on is why i ask.
It’s a wierd one ! 6 different mags same ones from the start , swapped slide assembly’back and further between the 2 frames , main sure mags were latched in by fully seating then with slide locked back , even has a buddy shoot it to be sure it wasn’t me , lol no such luck same dropping mags

yeah that is odd… im not sure really… messing with triggers should not effect the magazine drop button at all.
So since both frames are acting the same and they both worked perfectly before disassembly , what could possibly changed on reassembly to cause it to act this way ?
I’m thinking pictures are needed. I’ve had mine apart for like 20 minutes looking at it and trying to think this through. Kinda stumped. There’s guys here though that know a lot more about the Dagger than I do though.
Was yours like that from the start ?
I’ve never had a mag drop.
something to think about. I just had an issue where I would insert a mag and rack the slide and would have the mag drop out. Turned out the trigger pin was broken. I’m wondering if the new trigger shoe may not be fitting correctly. Try changing the shoe back and see if it stops.
So after removing the Shadow shoe the back side is just a bit maybe a 1/8” longer at the bottom edge , my guess is it’s contacting sometime during the firing cycle
that could be i guess… if anyone would know more about this its @mattbbb14 … lets see what he has to say.
Trigger shoe wouldn’t make mags drop
i didnt t hink so either. i didnt think that replacing a trigger at all would do that but hes saying thats whats happening… and i figured we needed to pick your brain about that since your the dagger guru as far as i know.
I installed an overwatch trigger a couple of months ago. I had a kinda mag issue after that. I remove mag catch and there was a tiny piece of black plastic lodged somewhere on/ near mag catch/release. After reinstalling the mag catch all was fine. Maybe remove your catch clean and inspect that and see what happens. Welcome to the forums. Hope you get things figure out
That would be a to easy solution except it is in 2 dagger that both had the same trigger shoes install and both ran flawless before the swap and both are dropping mags after the shoe swap . Now to get back to the range and see what happens with oem triggers back in
