Pardon my ignorance but I purchased a Marauder series\model 9.5" 300 blk out complete upper receiver some months back. I have done some shallow digging to find out if the muzzle device\flash hider is able to be removed and replaced with a " don’t call it a silencer, it’s a suppressor" can, but have yet to find any satisfactory, concrete answer to my query. Any help would be appreciated.
IIRC that model is threaded 1/2x28 so you should be fine. You’re right though they make it difficult to give you a definitive answer because a couple pics look like it might be a pain.
I appreciate that, but I think I recall someone saying that the handguard is supported, on the muzzle end , by the flash hider? I believe?
That’s what one picture led me to believe.
That the handguard is supported by the flash hider or that it is (the flash hider) removable?
but it really doesn’t make sense because of the heat that close.
Also I’m asking because I’ve got a complete lower and I’m thinking about getting another blackout if I’m unable to put a suppressor on that one, I think I want to use it as a CQB and I’m thinking maybe getting an 11 and a half inch 556 if I can put a suppressor on the blackout. As it stands I’ve got the one blackout and two 16-in 556. Any advice? I was also perhaps thinking about throwing a 65 Grendel on the lower receiver or something with a little more “reach out and touch someone”.
8.5 is optimal for .300 for CQB suppressed or not. Honestly I’d think about the JAKL based on what you’ve been saying. The adjustable gas block that’s included will get you where you want to be regardless of supersonic, subsonic. I shot one at The Gathering and honestly didn’t like it but it was set up for right handed shooters. Pretty sure I would love it with the charging handle on the other side.

I appreciate the advice. The lower of which I spoke, I failed to mention is a Franklin lower receiver and I’m itching to use it. I figured I could throw a cmmg . 22 conversion in to run drills. But because of the short barrel I figured the BO was the way to go. If I can put it on the Marauder, supressed then I’ll have the lower that it is on the bo now to hook up another rifle .
Sorry, I know it’s a lot of info but this is why I was thinking about the Grendel, because I don’t have a long range rifle and the blackout if ,able to be suppressed, would cover the CQB.
If all else fails, I was just going to get a short barrel box that I could put a suppressor on
*bo
And I’d like to take advantage of the free shipping they are currently running on all of their uppers
300blk should be 5/8x24
Somewhere around here there’s a thread with piktarz where I broke mine down for another member who had the same idea. Essentially, unless you’re pretty good at re-engineering and fabrication, it’s probably a “not possible”.
I appreciate the heads up, as fabrication is definitely outside of my wheelhouse but just out of curiosity what needed fabricating? That couldn’t be purchased? Again either way I don’t think that I’m going to pursue going down this avenue and perhaps just buy a new upper receiver.
Just out of curiosity are you familiar with the ins and outs of disassembly of the Marauder model upper receiver?
I would need to see pics.
Unload. Double check. Compress the Delta ring toward the receiver. The wave-spring inside can be pretty stout - you may need a Delta Ring Tool. With it compressed, slide the bottom half of the guard out of the ring, and pivot it toward the muzzle. Repeat with the top half.
Once off, you can see how the muzzle device holds the stamped mount for the front of the handguard halves - THAT is the problem with adding say a tri-lug mount for a can, or some other quick change muzzle device.
Here, I found that old thread:
Hey, thank you for your time, I’m kinda back @
1. Needless to say I was hoping for a different outcome but que sera, sera. I think I’ll go with a 11.5" 556 (my coffers are more plentiful & the ammo is cheaper) with a can that will fit the bo. I believe I read a suppressor for a . 45 would work nicely. I really do appreciate your advice. My pop passed at the beginning of the year and left me some firearms. I haven’t shot much since he and I would pop off a few rounds when I was a kid. I have had a veracious appetite for guns since and am consuming as much information on the topic as is possible. Thanks again.,
