PA-15 7" 300 AAC marauder pistol

Thoughts on this gun? Haven’t seen many reviews of this configuration, but the price is hard to pass up.

My other reason not to jump to buy it is much more interested in the PSA JAKL 300, but at this price I am intrigued.

It is great if you have a suppressor and use subs. I would not recommend that short of a 300blk using supers and no can.

Yep that’s the plan, suppressed and subsonic.

This one might need more than just pulling-off the Megaphone from the end and replacing it with a can. The muzzle device is part of the front retainer for the handguard.

That said, I do not know if a tri-lug or similar device could take its place, with or without modifications.

Here’s what lies beneath….

Hope this helps your decision.

Thank you! Do you think twisting that muzzle device off is hard to swap it with a can?

It’s just a standard barrel behind it all, so long as you have the proper thread-diameter and pitch any device will screw onto it. (Admittedly I don’t know what that is for the 300 - mine’s a 5.56 pistol).

Here you can see the crush washer and end of the muzzle device:

It’s getting something to hold that end of the handguard, and keep it from rotating that’s the issue.

You could quite easily just replace the Milspec barrel nut and put something free-floating on it. BUT then that takes-away from the cool-factor of the Marauder, AND costs you additional time and money…

If one were a Machinist, or had a clever Machinist /welder friend, it probably wouldn’t be an issue modifying a Tri-lug or other quick-connect of your choice to replace the “megaphone” currently on one.

Thank you, sir! Appreciate all of the investigation, you are awesome.

@GJMan In Lead We Trust has an extended-base tri-lug that could maybe adapted, and give enough extension to hold the front handguard retaining-plate in place.

I really don’t know for sure if that will work - I’ve never tried to suppress the thing. Just was looking at something else, and this part came up, thought I might add it to the conversation, see what you thought.

I appreciate the comments from @TheAirHawk and @GuitarGuy - enough to decide to skip on it.
Here is my next quiz (I can’t get them both):
Jump on this 300 blk AR pistol for the price - https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-8-5-pistol-length-300aac-blackout-phosphate-1-8-7-lightweight-m-lok-moe-shockwave-pistol.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=daily_deals&utm_campaign=20220919&utm_term=afternoon

or just wait for the JAKL in .300 blk?

Having just acquired a JAKL myslef recently, I admit Bias; but vote you Wait for the 300BLK.

My $0.005…. (That’s half-cents [sense]….)

But don’t go with that just because I said so - I’m an Idiot. I’d Trust GG’s opinion over mine.

7" 1/8 twist is senseless IMO

Appreciate the feedback, what about:

Do you have a suppressor or are you planning to get one?

I plan to get one.

the reason I ask is a short 300blk is going to probably be limited on ammo it will function with (maybe some subs, but mostly supers). 300blk shines with subs and a suppressor.

My 7" .300 blk marauder works just fine. Plenty accurate at 100 yards. Makes for a great compact hog or deer gun. Not sure why someone didn’t recommend supers. Supers are all I use and recoil is not bad at all. The flash is my less than on my 7" 5.56mm upper. The flash can does a good job of project any flash that there is, forward of you so you and shooters next to you, don’t get a massive headache from any overpressure blast. The nice thing about .300 blk is that it literally is designed for short barreled rifles. It’s a super nice round for compact firepower. In that regard, it’s design gives you 7.62x39mm performance but much better performance out of shorter barrels (and the flexibility to more easily use subsonic rounds and cans). Sadly if I want a can though I’ll have to install a free-floating handguard which I’ve never done. But I think it’ll be worth the expense, tools, and time.
