Good job sir ![]()
Ironically after this thread. This popped up on YouTube. I don’t watch much of him but I know lots of people do. It just came up in my “feed” the other day. I snapped screenshots for the specific reason of asking your opinion and sharing in this thread.
Also for what it’s worth… A guy in the comments mentioned how he always carries a kit in the trunk and I mentioned to him your comment (and your professional experience and knowledge) that a kit in the trunk can (and has) been known to be trapped and unable to be accessed in an accident if the trunk is damaged.
Also thanks again for a useful and knowledgeable thread.
OH!!!
I also forgot to specifically point out his comment in that screenshot to everyone that…
“You are much more likely to need to SAVE a life than to TAKE one”.
Thats deep gentleman, take that in and think about it for a moment. ![]()
Ive not looked specifically at that kit. The screen shots and price lead me to think it is quality.
That looks expensive for what I can see.
Now I haven’t shop for IFAK supplies it several years.
My wife and I have bags that I pieced together, but I don’t remember them costing that much together.
Now I’m a Old Man so my memory may be fading ![]()
No worries. I thought “it looked” expensive for what I seen as well.
BUT, I’m cheap!
ALSO, I’m not a professional EMT.
AND, things cost A LOT nowadays.
SO, idk… ![]()
The linked kit from iraqveteran8888
Has an Adventure Medical Kit Trauma Pack, here are a few versions of that kit
This kit at $30 is the one in the iraqvetran8888 kit.
Spendy on Amazon, a bit less in a retail store.
I keep a seperate minor cuts & scrapes kit from Adventure Medical Kits in a seperate pouch in my pack from the trauma kit. The .5 is what I have but, I’m looking at the .7 or .9
I picked up my .5 kit at Sportsmans Warehouse (think they go by just Sportsmans now) or REI.
Sorry for all the screen shots, just giving a bit of info on component cost.
I pieced my 1st trauma kit together, spreading out individual component purchase as I was kinda broke getting out of debt 10+ years back.
Building a decent kit can be done on a shoe string budget. Things like restock kits or the throw kit, linked to at the $60~ish price point, make more sense to me now. Weather that is a one and done or some other items get added, you get some key lifesaving tools in one purchase.
Hopefully some of the above is useful.
I got the last item on the list 10×30 ABD combine pad and an additional item, “blood stopper” ordered.
The large ABD combine pads are for large blood loss. Big absorbent pad to help surface clotting.
The “blood stopper” is a variant on the Israeli battle dressing. Take the pressure cleat out add extra gause pad that can be removed if not needed.

Almost completely love the post. I am CPR and stop the bleed trained and have taken many first aid courses over the years. Always looking for more when I can. I also have a stop the bleed kit w chest seal in each car, my work bag, range bag and home.
I am also a lawyer, so words matter to me, and they shape public opinion. I do not like your reference to “mass shooting” when referring to mass casualty events. The term implies shooting and firearms are the problem and unfairly focuses attention on our sport and not the terrorist nut job that comits the vehicular homicide, machette, knife, bombing, or firearm involved mass casualty event.
Im not seeing that I ever used the term “mass shootings” in anything posted in this thread.
I used active shooter response and mass casualty incident or MCI.
It looks like i have inadvertently reinforced my point that words matter with my mistake! The point of my post, aside from complimenting you, was to say that using terms like “shooter” or any such words associated with firearms instead of more generic terms that encompass all types of disasters empasizes the notion that firearms are the problem, and deemphasizes ther perpetrator as the problem. I do like your use of the term MCI.
Well,
Your previous statement makes a lot more sense given the clarification.
Thank you!
