They’re holding the class at the 5.11 store near my house. Since they sell NA Rescue products there, it wouldn’t surprise me if they were running a special on the evening of the class.

I’ve been up for 24 hours, after working an 8 hour shift, I’ve spent 3 hours driving & 3 hours teaching, so mental fog is near 100%.
I carpooled with another radio guy so round that up to 6 hours of talking, formulating explinations for others to grasp a concept & redirecting segways back on point.
It was in the first aid section of one of the Boy Scout training books. It was referring to the decision of when to apply a tourniquet and the possibility of serious damage/loss of an extremity if the tourniquet had to remain in place for an extended period versus the loss of life from bleed out.
Just an FYI from personal experiences to go with providing medical aid…

I attended the class tonight. Instructor was very helpful with answering questions and demonstrating gear. They offered 20% off on anything in the store for attending the free class and also a discount if you wanted to join the USCCA. I definitely think it was worth the time and I’ll keep an eye out if they offer any other classes in my area.

I was going to say you don’t come across E Cylinders that need tank keys much anymore, but my Googling has called me a liar. It must just be our hospitals supplier, but all of ours have integrated flow meters now that have a 50 PSI outlet and an O2 line nipple. I decided to take a Stop the Bleed class myself as a refresher and have it scheduled for a week from Saturday. I’ve mostly done peds and neonates the last 20 years and am way out of date on my big person skills.
All the tanks on local ambulances for jump bag and on stretcher has the flat key, when i was on the truck.
When I was still doing patient care I carried a Gerber multitool for stuff like this. The pliers fit the tank stems perfectly and I didn’t have to carry a separate O2 cylinder key.

I saw a bunch of chewed up tank valves for flight crews using a leatherman wave. I always had the key incorporated in my trauma shears.
Im taking a refresher stop the bleed this Saturday. Bro promised we would go out to lunch afterwards.
That is just odd that Oklahoma of all places would have the new keyless tanks and you wouldn’t. We started getting them about 15 to 20 years ago and by the time I left patient care 10 years ago, they were all gone. It was just so much more convenient to have them built in and have both a 50 psi outlet and an O2 nipple built in. With the 50 psi DISS outlets, we could plug a vent or blender directly into the tanks and not have to hunt around for a regulator. Edit: Uploaded an example of what I’m talking about. This version has a lot more plastic than the ones we used, but will give you the idea if you haven’t run across one yet.
