My main EDC 5.7 Rock w/Holosun EPS Carry

Sooo, how does it ride below the belt? Seems like it could be uncomfortable. Nice setup though.

Very comfortable as I carry it at 3 o’clock.

i too carry at 3 oclock. that said you have a beautiful setup. I need to get a good ccw holster for my Rock. I have one for my FN5-7 and i’d love to see the difference between the two carry wise.

This is the holster I use

thanks for the link. however i prefer Leather fully, or at least leather on the side of my body, and kydex on the outside.

There’s not a big difference between them for carry purposes.

are we talking about the leather vs kydex or the Rock vs 5.7 by FN? cause to me the leather vs kydex there is enough difference to me to notice it.

The different pistols

You likely damaged part #41 and #43 (left and right striker housing) on page 29 of the manual by installing this optic. I just found out mine’s damaged and so is a friend’s who installed a Holosun (I have the EPS Carry, just like you, and my friend has the 507k).

I would post pics, but my account is too new to allow me to post pics.

You’ll need to remove the optic in order to remove the assembly that contains part 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45. That whole assembly will slide out, but the screw damage will make it slightly stiffer.

I think this is a design flaw: there is not enough room for standard length optic screws.

You likely felt nothing as you screwed them in.

Is the EPS carry direct fit on the Rock with optics cut or did it need slide milling/adapter plates?

It’s the same as the 507K X2, a direct fit. You will need to shorten the provided M4 mounting screws so they don’t extend beyond the bottom of the sight more than 3.8mm or they will damage the striker mounting housing.

Forgive me, because I know so little about optics footprints. I’m just a guy that wants to get it right and not have to return a part just because it doesn’t fit.
That said, I have been reading the manufacturer website (both Holosun and PSA).

PSA says:

“This 5.7 Rock optics-ready slide is cut for direct mount Shield footprint optics”

Like I said, I’m new at learning about optics footprints, but it looks like Shield cut optics are also called “RMSc” or “RMS” depending on if it is designed for compact-sized pistols or not, respectively.

Meanwhile, Holosun’s website lists the EPS Carry as:

EPS Carry […] utilizes Holosun’s popular K footprint. An RMSc-to-K footprint adapter plate is included for maximum compatibility.

If the Holosun website is to be believed, the 507K X2 is the same footprint as the EPS Carry.

It looks as though an adapter plate may be actually necessary? Do you have first hand knowledge that the 507k or EPS Carry is a direct fit, without adapter plates or milling? Like I said: I’m just a guy that wants to get it right and not have to return a part just because it doesn’t fit!

Thanks!

It is confusing at times yes. I have a 407k which is the same footprint as a 507k and it fits fine footprint wise. Do pay attention to the screw lengths listed above.

I have two Rocks ( a standard optics cut Rock and an RK1 ) I have mounted Holosun 507K Red Dots on each of them without any adapter plate being necessary. Just make sure you shorten the Holosun included m4x12mm mounting screws as I mentioned earlier.

No problem, my ego doesn’t require it.
