Needing advice with my AKV possible issue

I’ve had my AKV a few years now and while cleaning it after its last range trip I noticed a pit or divot that has formed right on the bolt face where the firing pin comes through. I’m wondering if this is something that I should get warranty work on. Ignore the sludge, that’s just grease. Any advice is appreciated.

i’m not sure. give it a good cleaning, and remove the firing pin and clean that too, then install it again and take phtos again and show us..

Agree…keep in mind 2 things:

  1. all firearms “wear in” . And because of that all will have things we notice.

  2. PSA has a lifetime warranty. If it is an issue they will fix it.

Firing pin seems fine. The divot so far doesn’t seem to mess with it. I circled in yellow the divot.

You’re firing pin looks fine, me? I wouldn’t worry about the pit or divot. If you’re still uneasy about it contact CS.

That looks like it was casued by something else and not the firing pin. I wouldnt personally worry about it unless you get oob detonation, and then there are potential bigger issue.

What is oob detonation?

Out of battery

Gotch ya. Would a headspace check give me that answer?

No. Usually happens when you are shooting too fast or if something is wrong with the ammo.

Looks like external impact damage. Perhaps debris like a pebble, steel bird shot or a malformed steel casing hit the edge at the right spot.
The 9 mm Luger max pressure is 35,000 psi, which is not particularly high. It should be OK as long as you are not getting extruded or pierced primers because of the defect.
I don’t recommend the of grease unless you are storing the gun and want to prevent rust. Switch to an oil cloth to apply a light rust preventive film. It will make it easier to clean and inspect that bolt face in the future.
