I purchased a GF5 and it’s been in the safe for a while finally went to shoot it. Everything seemed ok except for the blot sticking a little when charging at the rear .
Took it apart to clean it and seen this on the recoil spring. Is this normal? I think it’s what is causing it to stick open when fully charged to the rear.
If you zoom in it’s rolled over itself which is not normal to what I’ve seen. I’d relieve the tension and reinstall the retainer and see if it compresses without the rollover.
I didn’t think that was right. I tried to remove it and flip it around it wouldn’t fit in the bolt carrier so i flipped it back and ordered ALG DEFENSE AK-47 Recoil Spring and a POWER CUSTOM
AK-47 Recoil Buffer. Thank you for the quick replies…
Which ALG spring did you order? I have the one with harmonic disruption winds in the middle and love it. It takes a little patience to install it but it’s worth it. The recoil buffer is nice (real nice) but understand it is a wear item and needs to be replaced occasionally. If you really want to make a top line AK (you’re damn close already) consider a dust cover seal for where the end of the recoil spring goes through the dust cover.
