Official PSA AR-9 Photo Thread:

I got the KAK buffer weight & spring combo you recommended, I just haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet.

Found a use for my Sabre grip. I’ve always changed out the A2 grips for Magpul but it fits well on the 9mm.

have you tried it out, how is it?

Okay I just couldn’t get past the skinny stick mags….
So I started another. I like this overall look much better …
Mostly all PSA parts. I painted the old stealth lower had laying about its metallic silver. Looks cool but we’ll see how she handles everyday wear. All the lower parts kit were spare parts I’ve had about. Standard stuff with EPT trigger. I love the ergo grip…just so….well, ergo
Oh btw this is standard upper with Endomag mag inserts in Gen2 pmags

No more manly mag envy for me

Think you should paint the upper and handguard to match

What did you use to paint the lower with? I may be brainstorming a golden gun now…

Matthews Acrylic Polyurethane…its like an automotive finish…kind of…made for the sign industry. (I own small sign company)
Sadly i buggered up one spot on the lower near the trigger guard when driving the roll pin in for the trigger guard. was one wack away from being done and missed a little. I will touch it up but the metallics are finicky. This was the hardest friggin trigger guard pin I’ve ever put in, and i’ve done a bunch. Was gonna swap the trigger guard for an extended one but now…dunno

Thats a spray finish…by the way, and i did tape off all the insides of lower and magwell

That’s very interesting… after a couple range trips I’d love to see how it holds up. I have a PPG dealer down the street from me so that would be super convenient if I go that route.

nice setup. i like the ergo grips too… im on the fence about your silver lower though. to me it looks almost too bright, but it may start to look better once you start breaking it in and getting some wear on that lower. Otherwise i like it a ton.

I am kinda with Don on his comment, paint the upper reciever the same color as the lower, and maybe even the buffer tube and possibly the handguard.

this rifle i have, while NOT a 9mm, was coated by PSA supposedly FDE, but to me its turned out to be more gold than anything else, and i couldnt find anything FDE to match it. So i call it my golden gun. They ceracoated its upper receiver and lower receiver both stripped and the buffer tube all at the same time. what do you think? :

hows that for your golden gun there @Welder ?

That’s a pretty good looking “golden” gun. I think if I went the golden route, I would go literally the whole thing gold or something similar to a Middle Eastern ceremony gun. Think gold with Ivory or white stock.

yeah i can understand that. PSA here in columbia has an AK in the cabinet that is jus tas your saying. I like to call it Saddam’s Golden AK 47

I think I saw it after The Gathering this year. Went to the Fernadina store on the way back and saw it and I think some Swiss Lugers?

yeah thats possible they had the lugers i dont know if they do still. i havent been really looking h ard in that case for a long time now.

I did one couple years ago in RED…my 300BO build. It gets used ALOT. Probably one of our favorites to shoot. and it has the Matthews paint as well. Its holding up nicely

Might do that…I just threw the completed upper on there for now so i could test it out. Finally shot it this weekend. I was surprised how loud it was and had bit more kick than i expected. I mean its an AR platform so its not bad, but all things being relative…, more than I expected. Seems pretty accurate. I only shot 75 rounds through it, mostly to sight in the red dot.
BTW, this is my first experience with Endomag inserts and i only put 25 rounds in each…and that was tight. I assume as spring loosens up i can get 5 more in there - Endomag says it holds 30 rounds
I have an AKV and don’t recall it kicking quite as much, but i did not get it out for side by side comparison, and I believe it weighs more as well.
Ran flawlessly, and one other comment…the shells were ejecting at about 4 o’clock, but sailing from 12 - 20 feet. Using plaino factory Blazer 115 FMJ ammo
Welcome all comments on this…anyone ejecting like this? This is a stock PSA 9mm complete upper with BCG and buffer/spring

I saw where you said in a previous post that you built the lower using all standard parts? What buffer weight did you use? I usually use a 9mm specific weight, about 9oz. Too light of a buffer weight can make for some snappy recoil.

It was a PSA upper kit that came with buffer, etc. It is a the buffer and spring PSA uses with their 9mm kits…orange buffer weight
I’m think it’s fine but it did seem snappy to me. It certainly fired fone and haven’t used it enough to really make a judgement.
