OK, I'm impressed

Normally carry M&P’s in .40, but kinda wanted to try a Dagger. Paid of some vacay debt and decided it was time to bust a grape. Bought a sniper green slide and FDE frame. It’s gorgeous!

Now I’ve owned my share of guns. I carried a Ruger P85MKII in the 90’s (when I was a LEO), carried a PT111 in the late 90’s when I lived in Fl, and owned a Gen 3 26, Gen 4 23. Still own numerous M&P’s, FN FNX, Taurus G2, TX22, and so on.

Said the above just so you know what my experience level is before going on.

So when I first mated the slide and frame, my gosh was it dry and gritty. Even with some oil. I put some more on and it still sounded like an arthritic knee. Finally put some on the recoil spring and rod and it began to feel smoother. Not as smooth as any of my M&P’s, but better. It was clear this might need a break in.

In hand, this thing feels really good. The slide release is smaller than my carry M&P, but way more irritating. LOL. And the stippling is about perfect. Like fine sand paper. It’s going to hold on, but without FN FNX/FNS levels of pain after shooting 100 rounds.

Now the good part! Took it to the range with a Gen 1 M&P for comparison. First things first, the Dagger trigger is actually rather nice. Yes, it’s just as creep(y) as a Gen 4, but it’s smoooooth. Waaayyy better than the Gen 4. By comparison, the M&P has very little creep once you’ve reached the wall. We tend to think of creep as being a bad thing, but in this case, it was so smooth as it crept backwards it was actually rather nice. The M&P by comparison felt like it had to be squeezed harder and harder before it broke. I never minded this, but after today I’m thinking about replacing the triggers on ALL of my M&P’s.

Accuracy? Yes. My first shots were at 20 yards, then on to 25. Can’t complain here.

Unfortunately, there is a little bad. In 50 rounds there were 3 stove pipes. Additionally, it failed to go into battery on a couple of occasions when closing the slide via the slide release. But as I said before, this guns needs to be broken in. On top of that, this was with one of the Magpul mags. Will get some Glock mags and run another couple of hundred through this thing.

In conclusion, this is a pretty rockin’ little blaster for 310 Republic Dahktaris! I’m very pleasantly surprised with the trigger. Once broken in, this is going to be awesome.

Snap Cap / dry fire the hell out of it. You like it now? Just wait. It was my first hinged trigger and at first I was extremely skeptical. Never been a fan of Glock (can’t stand the hand feel and they don’t point naturally for me) and figured I’d never get a Dagger. Handled a Dagger at a PSA store and it was over. Went home and ordered a frame that night from the site. When I got it in hand went to the Greenville PSA store bought a slide I liked and took it to the range and shot a hundred rounds though it. Have been very impressed myself.

Glad to see a well-reasoned take. Most people wouldn’t lube the thing at all or break it in and would get one FTE and rush to the internet to trash it.

Post some pictures, we love gun pics here.

My first complete dagger is a pain in the rear. All it does is burn through my ammo like a gluttonous pig. I had to teach it a lesson and got a 2nd one to try to ignore the first.Unfortunately that one does nothing but eat up any available within arms reach too.

Couldn’t agree more about Glock!!! Felt like a 2x4 with a A2 M16 handle for a grip. It was feel in hand by itself that got me to jump the fence over to M&P.

I think the whole thing about the hinged trigger is over-blown. Ultimately, peeps are going on about in reviews because they’re splitting hairs

People just complain about things cause they can’t shoot(or because it doesn’t cost as much as x brand that’s more popular). Do I prefer a non hinged trigger? Sure. But I can shoot it fine, as I do a Hi Point. I just don’t think it’s worth the time and money to upgrade it unless the hinged design just doesn’t physically work for your body. It’s the best factory Glock-ish trigger I’ve felt besides the new Gen5 slimline guns. Even a G34G5 wasn’t this good, with the - connector or a dot one. All I did was polish it. That 10-15 bucks on a trigger shoe alone gets you another 50 rounds of 9mm. Almost 100 if you find a good deal going on.

With some people saying break-in on a 600+ dollar gun is acceptable, not sure why they flip and expect a less expensive gun to not need one. Looser tolerances/clearances maybe? But that’s just not how those things work. Parts have to mate together. Not every part is going to have the same looseness to it. One tight, one loose, and you get weird stuff out of the box. They get a lot smoother with rounds, both trigger and the slide itself. Of course guide rod/spring also can make things feel chunky and squeaky on Glocks, but that’s expected. My two Daggers are super slick now, combined with grease for lubrication as I always recommend over oil. I don’t think the Pmags are causing your issues though. I’ve got tons of them some even 8 years old with 10K+ rounds shared through them, and they fail to lock open but feed fine. I’d consider Pmags to be 100%, with OEM Glock mags just being extra at 110% But each gun is an individual.

Speaking of not being able to shoot, I need to start doing my long distance shots again. 19yds and in today I can group well, standing. 20-25, shots are going wild. Could also be my 2k rounds without cleaning the barrel. Or some combo of the two. Unless the barrel wore fast, it shouldn’t be that, since it was hitting at 100 easily in the past.

Just to add on here. Friend recently spent 1000+ on a S&W M&P 2.0 in 10mm. Performance center model. And got an Aimpoint Acro P2 for it as well.
Another friend just got a Hi Point JXP 10mm today. And shoots just as well. Got it for 200, plus the tax. And compared to my Hi Point’s trigger, that one does suck. Or apparently, I do, since he could group it well and I couldn’t. Range time does a lot for you.

I’ve had great reliable usage from several pmags in our daggers, pc carbines & charger, plastic foldy-boy sub2k, etc. But we do have a couple that have given us issues between platforms. Still use them for range duty, but I marked them with a “?” on the sides and bottom plate with a silver permanent marker to let us know those are the questionables, so they don’t get mixed with reliable vetted mags for carrying.

Bought my first almost 2 yrs ago in sniper green, 10 mags and bag deal. It is my EDC. Then the PSA deal lower and AR stripped lower @ $99. Bought a threaded green slide for the first purchase. Got 2 now and not one issue with either. Like @Rufus said, rack and snap in your free time. Both are left stock. And my triggers feel great to me and friends. I just followed feedback from previous threads and it was solid input from those who know. Coming from a 1911 and wheel gun shooter. Very happy with my Daggers!
