Ok, so i finally found a deal i couldnt pass up

this past saturday i was in the summerville store and i was browsing their wares. I found they had a wall of ar15 completed lowers in various colors and configurations all for 99.99 and then they had 1 single row for AR10 completed lowers as well for 139.99. Sadly they were out of the ar10s, but at the bottom of that ar10 lineup there were 2 ks47 lowers completed. I decided i’d ask a clerk how much the KS47 lowers were going for, i mean either price is a great deal for the KS47 completed lower, (as retail after tax and title it rang up for 278.16…) but im getting ahead of myself… The clerk went in back with it and came back out and said the consensus is its 99.99. I told him to wrap that baby up!!! well when i got done with all the paperwork and everything i went to check out and the girl up front rang it up and it rang up for 278.16, as mentioned before. I was like Um NO mam… the fellers in back said it was 99.99, she conferred with the counter mgr i guess and then rang it up as such… I am estatic, that i got a KS47 completed lower for like 1/3 the normal price!!.

now i just gotta build the rest of the gun out. :frowning: lol

well its not much right now… it looks just like this, but im gonna put a coyote b5 Sopmod on it as a stock, and i think i’ll go with a B5 grip in coyote as well.

Finally  Congratulations that’s a great deal. I can’t wait to see the upper you build. Welcome to the club, but be ready to have a new favorite.

lol. i know right. it certainly took me long enough to do one. id of thought i’d of done it immediately when they came out but for once im behind the ball on this model. lol.

I’m going to be taking my time with this build, and mostly conserving funds as much as i can… I already have an upper handguard i’ll probably use with it, but im not 100% sure on that yet. I may use it because its been sitting in my gun build case forever. its a Daniel quad rail. i cant remember how long, and in the end that is what will dictate to me if i use it is the length of the barrel versus the length of the rail.

So Far, i’ve put the B5 Sopmod Coyote stock on it. i need to upgrade the grip to a coyote b5 of some sort. maybe the mod3 idk. and then from there i need to put in an ambi safety. and upgrade the trigger. then i’ll need a QD plate for the end of the receiver. all before i mess with the upper.

Wow, that’s a smokin’ deal! I was at the Fernandina store yesterday and they had a big sign on the counter saying complete AR10 lowers for 139. Come to find out they only had two in stock and they sold in minutes. Needless to say, I asked Will why the sign was still on the counter. All good. :sunglasses:

I’m rather fond of my KS-47. Very accurate and lightweight .30 cal. :sunglasses:

thanks! yeah thats the same sale they had at summerville, i just assume summerville had more stock and less traffic than fernandina does… however y ou wouldnt have known by going into the parking lot at summerville. that place was packed!

Im realy glad that i have it now. Now like i said earlier i just gotta decide the barrel and handguard and things to finish her off.

yours looks great. i am eager to get mine done and shoot it.

You will need a KS-47 compatible upper and they are 1mm wider than MilSpec. This can come into play when choosing handguards with anti rotation tabs. If you use a PSA KS-47 upper you should be fine for tabs, but uppers like the the Gibbz Arms will require tab removal.

Also, are you going to go with a PSA hybrid BCG or have a 5.56 MilSpec BC milled with an “AK cut” and them chamfered?

Well, now that i’ll need a specific upper receiver, i may be better off just buying a completed upper receiver with all the goodies i need, Being BCG and CH as well as handguard. I couldnt remember if i could just simply run with a standard ar upper receiver or not. I appreciate that information sir. thank you.

as for the BCG… i always figured there i’d run the hybrid bcg from psa, and not mess with the standard BCG just so i’d be set to go. Although on my ARAK pistol and Rifle ive built already i used standard ar upper receivers and bcgs, just swapping the bolt with a bolt that would be big enough to run the 7.62x39…

yet another point to just buying a completed upper receiver again… seems to me it would / could be much more reliable by doing that as well.

The KS-47 upper has tabs milled into it to prevent mag over insertion, a MilSpec upper won’t have them. As to the BCG the PSA hybrid, basically has some machine work done to the bottom so that the BCG will clear the AK mag feed lips. Also when you look at the bolt face you will see that the lugs at the ejector and the extractor have been chamfered for the same reason.
Some other bits of info. Don’t forget that the KS-47 uses an AR-10 buffer spring and H1 buffer. Steel mags are usable with a KS-47, but will tend to wear on the aluminum over insertion tabs of the upper, so polymer is advised. An adjustable gas block is a great upgrade and then you can use a standard buffer spring and weight. If you do build your own upper, troughing the feed M4 feed ramps may be necessary( but not always).
A PSA complete upper with always be the easier and quicker path to get you up and running and out to the range.

right. thanks again for the tips.

since the lower is complete it already has the proper buffer spring and buffer in it. I’m 80% sure im goijng to go with a preassembled PSA upper next. just because it easier in the long run as i bet parts would be a bear trying to get. even that being the case, it will take me time still as i gotta pay some bigger bills first before i can sling round extra cash to be able to just go off and blow free money on things. lol i wish it werent the case but that is my life right now. too much bills not enough income.

I wanted a specific barrel and handguard. It took a year before the upper receiver became available . I even tried to find a upper with enough material to open the pocket up so the magazine could be inserted. The only thing I found was a side charger big enough

a side charger upper would be awesome for these KS47s. that would have me buying them instead of the standard upper that PSA offers. That said however, i do want to get the authentic KS47 upper receiver and barrel so im decided im going to buy a PSA upper complete at this point in time, unless psa decides in the near future to go ahead and sell the upper receivers for the KS47 stripped. If they do stripped upper receivers then i would actually consider building my own.

The side charger uppers were a contract over run that were $100 with a modified bolt and carrier. The bolt would have to be changed. I like oddball stuff so modifying everything is perfect for me. I wanted a long heavy target barrel and a pistol barrel. PSA didn’t do that. I also only use Diamondhead VRS-T Hand guards anymore because they fit my hand perfectly.

i wish psa would do offerings in side chargers. i think it would be quite awesome and sell more than just a novelty worth depending upon what calibers its offered in. I’ve got a few of those diamond head hand guards,. they are quite awesome.

I have built 2 side charging uppers for the KS-47. On both I used the Gibbz Arms G47 side charging upper. These uppers are specifically designed to fit the KS-47 lower and are great slick sided uppers. Here you find their blemished uppers for $258 or you can get them unblemished.

Or, you can get the Devil Dog Concepts Hard Charger side charging adapter. They make 3 different models, the original fits in the T13 pic position of the upper, the Hard Charger Tactical fits in the T3 position and allows for use of back up iron sights, and the Hard Charger Rear fits the T1 position. The original and the tactical will require you to modify them slightly to be used with the KS-47, but the Rear is ready to go out of the box. I have the tactical on my PSA KS-47 upper and it has worked flawlessly, though some have worried it might be…hmm hmm a solution in search of a problem😄.

Who manufactured the uppers?
