My 14.7 is one of the psa/chf fn barreled. If I have to remove the FH, what’s the metallurgical process in which it was “welded”?
I’m a neanderthal and break things often, so bear that in mind with this comment: vice and breaker bar.
NO!!! ![]()
seems logical to me.

Where’s that mooning smiley when one needs it? ![]()
well they drill partially into the barrel, insert a roll pin, and then tack weld on top the roll pin to hide/seal the pin into the barrel / flash hider. to remove this, i’d think you’d need a grinder/dremel to grind down the weld low enough to allow the flash hider to turn off/ spin off the end of the barrel. If you do this, i’d worry about effing up the end of the barrel. but that’s bout what i’d think is needed to be done. hope that helps.
Thank you. Accessing the pins was what I’m trying to figure out for course of action. Wasn’t sure if they were actually welded or braze/silver solder etc over the pins. TIG’d or welded in general, then yes grind to pin access. If braze or solder then I can torch the filler out. Was hoping someone might know already how these from psa are done
im pretty sure they dont use silver solder or braze but rather probalby mig weld them. I’ve never heard anyone talk about being able to torch the filler/weld out. only just grind it. Im sure someone on here has experience with this so i hope they can help you more than i have.
Drill the weld. The pun should fall out. Be very careful removing so you dont bugger up the threads any worse.
