Painting

Just painted the furniture on my rifle with brownells alumahyde II, turned out good, still curing. Going to do up the mags today

Pics or it didn’t happen… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yea it did, wish I could put it together, cure time is like a week or so depending…I’m not using the oven to bake it, just pure patience. Wish me luck lol

I’m interested to see it when it’s finished. I’m starting a new build and want to add some color.

that looks amazing! was it difficult? do they offer a wide variety of colors? is it ok to use on my lower receiver?

Yea it was easy as Sunday morning. You can paint the receivers, I might do tans or something for those in the future. I would take them apart tho. If your not comfortable with that there is insane amounts of youtube videos on assembling and dissasembling all the different parts. Application was pretty much like any other spray paint.

They offer quite a few colors, all your flat camo colors, black, gray, also make gloss finish in some colors. Brownells doesnt usually have them all in stock at the same time. Found you can buy it from ppl stores on Amazon n ebay. Pricing is the same in the end. I taped over my screw holes on the handguard and the top & bottom plate of my mags

tan would be cool, i would really love a vibrant color like violet

I dont have any experience with bluing. You could buy a can of the flat black. Also youtube painting rifles, lots of ppl paint without disassembling. Also lots people use other brands of paint like rustoleum or krylon. Isn’t going to be as durable but offers tons of color options. Both make high heat versions too.

NIce

How’d you paint it on there and has it held up so far?

I hung them from the ceiling in the garage with fishing line. Its held up good, I waited 12 days I think before I reassembled. I havent shot it yet, I pick it up and mess with it every day tho.

Love it!! mine came with a od green grip and stock their a bit off color from each other but thats Ok, love the OD

Paint can and will eventually wear off. The first one you do is always the hardest.

Here the alumahude magpul fde color for dome reference, lighting isnt the greatest. Pretty excited for this one. The the sba4 fde looks awesome with it.

That’s sick looking

4 different colors and some pinestraw for a pattern.

Thanks man, very helpful. Doesnt seem as bad when you break it down like that
