Please stop these H&R threads - Josiah

The PSA in-stock notification system still doesn’t seem to be working for H&R receivers. What am I doing wrong?

We’ve talked about this before. This is a follow-up on the problem of signing up for in-stock notifications for items that the PSA web site lists as out-of-stock, but not getting the notices when they become in-stock and available for sale. Unfortunately, when the items do come back into stock, some “secret squirrel” at ARF keeps getting advance notice about items coming back in stock, announces it on ARF, and the stuff is selling out within minutes – so fast that the PSA in-stock notices that allegedly take an hour to be generated never even go out to subscribers.

Initially the problem seemed to be coming from premature announcements by the CEO of H&R on ARF. I complained about this on Jan. 12 in that thread, and we were all assured on Jan. 13 that everything was fair and there were no secret squirrel shenanigans going on. Then, on the morning of Jan.14 the secret squirrel made amother announcement about parts-in-stock at ARF. They sold out in minutes to the ARF guys in the know and nothing was available to PSA subscribers.

For reasons that are statistically impossible, one guy keeps winning the lottery. “Grondike” continues to be having advance knowledge of when the H&R stuff is getting released, and he continues to announce it on ARF, effectively nullifying the function of the PSA notification system.

Here “Grondike” announced the availability of the H&R receivers on Jan. 6 – before the PSA notification system had time to send out emails. The receivers all sold out within 13 minutes. ARF guys got them, PSA subscribers did not.

Wake Up, Y’all

Then right after we were all assured on Jan. 13 that there was no “secret squirrel” activity going on, the same guy announces the availability of H&R receivers going live on the morning of Jan. 14, claiming to have received a PSA notification email that nobody else received. Again, the receivers again sold out in minutes. Again, the ARF guys got them, PSA subscribers did not.

Proof that PSA actually does send emails when items are in stock.

I’ve been signed up for the in-stock notices on H&R receivers but I’ve never received the email in-stock notifications, although I’m receiving in-stock notices on other items from PSA, as well as the twice-daily “Daily Deals” emails. Other people I’ve talked to have had the same problem – they’ve subscribed to receive the H&R receiver in-stock notices but nobody is getting them … except “Grondike” who is the only guy who seems to be lucky enough to be receiving them. Hard to believe.

How is it that this Grondike fellow is so damned lucky that he keeps winning the lottery?

Please explain what I am doing wrong. It really kills my confidence in the integrity of the PSA system to see the same guy winning over and over again while the rest of us keep being told to take a time-out and that everything is fine.

We need a level playing field.

No offense, but you seem to be spending all of your time and energy here detailing the issue when you should be monitoring ARF for the heads up.

If the end goal truly is to acquire these parts and you now know how the availability information is being communicated, then you should be more focused on monitoring that source.

So I’m a newb on the forum…what’s ARF?

I don’t have a dog in this fight, as I am not interested in purchasing H&R parts for a build, but I will throw my 2 cents in anyway. I think the OP has a legitimate complaint about receiving notices from PSA when parts become available. In the previous thread, it was disclosed that these notices or heads ups were first being posted on ARF, presumably by the CEO of H&R. In the ensuing discussion, it was noted that H&R is a subsidiary of the holding company that owns PSA and that H&R’s CEO is independent of PSA.

That might be a valid argument, but it appears that H&R doesn’t sell any parts on its website and that all of its parts are sold by PSA. That tells me that the decision for timing the release of parts for sale is made at PSA and not H&R. If the CEO of H&R is truly independent, why is he privy to internal PSA information? Can’t PSA control the information that is passed on to affiliates and subsidiaries?

PSA has lead most of us to believe that if we want notice of an out of stock item coming in stock that we need to sign up for notification from PSA. If PSA allows other people to post notices on other websites without first notifying its customers through its own system, then it needs to let customers know what websites they should visit for that information.

Maybe the solution for this is to set up some kind of back order system that will allow folks ordering items to get in line by placing a back order.

Just my two cents.

ar15.com -the absolute worst firearm forum on the web. And with that opinion, I completely understand why the OP doesn’t want to be over there. But again, if that’s where the notifications are happening and someone really wants something bad enough, one should endure the inevitable pain and suffering.

Of course the other option is to do the legwork oneself and religiously stalk the PSA site and not rely on others to take care of them.

Caveat all of the above with I intend no offense to the OP in any way. I don’t profess to know anything about these particular parts or why they are so desirable. My comments apply to anyone in search of anything that’s hard to get/find.

We all know the in-stock notifications dont work. Pry move past that. Website restocks at 2 different times in the day i think, 1130 & 330 eastern i think.

Thanks spook

Only the small minority of PSA customers who frequent this forum know the notifications don’t work well. Rather than trying to move past it, why not try to come up with a solution.

No secret squirrel stuff is going on. Mike, as CEO of H&R, can use whatever social media he chooses and Josiah has already explained that arfcom is where he is most comfortable. Furthermore, @Josiah_PSA said that he would be talking to Mike about the possibility of using this forum.

There was no advanced email that i am aware of. Some folks do use scripts and servers like discord that crawl the website in a manner similar to a search engine spider. That is all independent of the website, and is not in any way a part of PSA, H&R, or the website as a whole.

I have explained in your last thread that an item needs to be in stock 1 hour before the notification email is sent. Retro stuff is popular, and arfcom has the largest retro community that i am aware of.

As this is your second thread, and the other one was answered by @Anthony_PSA and @Josiah_PSA , and as i have now answered this one, it is time for this to close. I suggest, like others, that you follow the arfcom thread until the point Mike can join here (which will be his own choice as this is the PSA forum and he is H&R).
