Have my kit coming in the big brown truck. The main Question is what mags work, and what mags work great.
First post here Hello everybody.
I have one in 6.5 creedmoor and have used pmag 20 rounders with zero problems. Used them in a dpms lr308 in the past before it was semi retired.
Pmags work for me.
D&H have been flawless for me.
Pmag 10 and 20 work well in my PA65 gen 3. Same with Lancers. KAC is longest so it fits longer cartridges and runs smooth.
Thanks folks, I have P mags coming. I also have Armalite ar-10 first and some M-14 mags. SO i thank everyone.
Magpul, D&H ( both styles ) , IWI, Hexmags ( not a first choice ) , and a few others I can’t think of … My Lancers, have the stiffest spring out of all of the ones I use. I can tell it drags on the BCG. … All are Gen II’s…YMMV.
In the Lancers defense… I have a heavy recoil setup and an Adj. GB on all mine.
So the cyclic speed is slightly less vigorous than a OEM PA10 / 65.
I bought a Magpul 5 round single stack and it doesn’t even fit in my PSA Gen 3 AR 10 lower. What is up with that?
Sand the bump on the back of the mag. Known issue with magpul that happens on a variety of ar10 lowers. The 15, 20, and 25 rd don’t have the bump.
Sand where I am pointing until the side profile is straight.
Thank you GuitarGuy (I happen to be one also), however it isn’t going in that far. The top of the mag doesn’t fit the lower. See below, that is the top of the mag.
@Kevin that mag won’t fit because that is for short action bolt guns like the Rem 700. It isn’t for ar10s. You need the SR25 pmags.

All mags in stock at PSA:

Hexmags, Pmags, and of course, Magpul D-50.
So this one should work? (despite not being MAGPUL):

Note that my build is a 6.5C, not a .308 but my understanding is that the lower parts, including mag, should be interchangeable. I am obviously new to this so please tell me if I’m off. Thanks again!
Kevin
The reviews don’t look promising
Yes, as that is an sr25 mag it should work. But like @SuperPredator said it doesn’t have good reviews. Are you looking specifically for a 5 rd magazine?
Edit: you are correct that 6.5 C and 308 ar10 parts (including mags) are interchangeable (except the barrel). It’s a similar situation with 5.56 and 300blk.
Yes I am looking for a 5 round to be legal for big game in the state I hunt.
Do they allow you to use a riser?
I probably need to call to get that answer. I suppose if a duck plug makes a shotgun legal a riser would make a rifle legal. Here is the text from Nebraska Game and Parks: “Semi-automatics may hold no more than six cartridges; fully automatic, full-metal jacket and incendiary bullets are prohibited.”
Given that it is not clear I thought it best just to use 5 round mags.
Magpul makes a -5 mag limiter for their 10rd pmags. I think they are sold in 3 packs. Surely that would be no different than a shotgun tube limiter. A -5 would give you 5 in the mag and 1 in the chamber for 6 total.
Thank you all for the suggestions and assistance. I confirmed with NGP that a 10 round mag with -5 riser is cool. I’ve ordered an SR 10 round and riser. So glad I hit this forum up!
