PSA needs to at least sell their customers the parts that wiil allow reversion of my PSA AK-P GF3 SBA braced pistol (5165458004) & PSA AK V9 SBA braced pistol (51655130500B), so that not only can the buffer tube and telescopic brace removed, but rear parts to make it like the “no-brace” pistol contemporary beig sold with picatinny rear to conform to ATF. What about the rest of us customers, I dont think thats to much to ask. Simply removing the brace looks like hell, like a chimpanzees rear end. Anyone have the solution?

This is the replacement rear trunion that PSA sells. If you have a folding rear trunion (4.5mm) then you just pop the pin and remove the folding mech.
Thanks I forgot, that is to say I’ve seen this video before when considerig the folding stock before the rule change. But first time seeing just the adaper part alone, ThankYou. Now to decide do I just remove the buffer tube and fill in the void with JB Weld making ATF satisfied “not easily revertable”? Do I install the picatinny rear plate making it readily available to receive a folding stock with no tax stamp? Again thank you and PSA for showing me that part unbeknownst to me. For now I guess I’ll just remove and fill the void with somthing like black silicone, threaded bolt or tack welded plate to accept a rear sling mount. Besides I just noticed its out of stock and I have a feeling permanently.
Well I purchased 2 of those picatinny back plates to make my PSA AK V 9MM and My PSA AK Pistol both purchased with braces ATF Non-Fellony. Removed the 3 tiny hex screws to
remove each bace and brace adaptor, then replaced with the picatinny back plate adapter and 2 tiny hex srews provided. Not only were the ill fitting so that the back plates do not fit completely flush but with gaps and uneven, but on 1 set the screws provived were too long bottoming out early making it impossible to snug, leaving 1 adapter loose and wobbly. Now I have to order new screws I can shorten (if necessity) and a new hex hed tool as the one I used to remove the 2 insanely tight and install caused the tiny hex head to crack. In retrospect of their ill fit and finish I recommend not removing the original brace adaptors, but only remove the AR brace, tube, and locking nut. The naked AR style brace adapter will look odd, but at least will fit and finish correctly. IMO those AK Picatinny adaptors are awful fitting and usinf 2 tiny screws instead of 3 to secure it will cause ot to come loose anyway, not to mention save money on a poorly designed picatinny back plate.

One thing is for sure. If I want these picatinny adapters to fit correctly and be functional, I will have to bench vice both adaptors and custom grind them to fit flush, then drill and tap them for realistic size macine screws that can be lockwired or lock washered. Even a simple fabricated right-angle bent thin steel plate would be far better than this solution IMO

How about some pics?
Yeah I thought about that. I suppose just use the upload button, or do I have to use a GIF format. Do you know the general format requirements? Ill take a few pics and try and post tonight as its trash day tomorrow so Im trimming bushes and filling cans. What I can tell you is from just a few feet away it noticeable for any gun enthusiast to say : "whats the deal with that gap opening at the back of your weapon, or why is your sling rattling the back plate on you weapon, your startling the the hogs, lol
Just hit that little upload button and it uploads straight from your phone, no 3rd party hosting needed. 3rd party you can simply cut and paste the link.
So as you can see, looks obnoxious. But trying to force it strait doesn’t work because these picatinny back plates firstly have allot of slop as they dont fot snug so the tiny screws bear all the load. Then there is the uneven surface which once you tighten the screw evenly/unevenly, one side or the other lifts up like a card table with unevenly cut legs. My mistake is I should have bought 1 instead of 2, especially at $40 a pop. Now ill have to cut them strait and maybe even glass-bed them with added material to take up all the loose slop. Like trying to use Q-tips for hearing protection, albiet a bit exaggerated.
Stamped metal as all AKs are. more detailed pics and I might could help you. To be clear I don’t own an AK-P.
I really appreciate the offer and agree with what your trying to convey. But Im a retired Navel Weapons Engineer CWO4. So yeah its on my big list get to cut and straighten, but for now cockeyed. Infact untill then Im calling it cockeyed. Believe me having worked in 3 Armories during my military service, procrastination fixing pilled up weapons in need of minor repair is an art form, between waiting for parts, cannibalism, and even machining repair parts. We even used to pull in port so I could purchase electronic repair components at RadioShack for our fire control system, unbeknownst and unofficial lol.
Pic of the inside from the top?
No need. Just look at the PSA install video. There is only 2 tiny scews at top, not bottom or no 3rd scew to stabilize the back as for the original AR brace adaptor, which I might add fit far better like made for it. Its my problem and Im not blaming PSA, in fact Id bet money this was made by a 3rd party. Lesson learned, do your research, learn from others mistake/ my mistake. I think this subject is just good informational purpose now,
Thank You 8^D
I’m wondering what is making it seat at an angle rather than flush like its supposed to. Thats the reason for asking for pics. They sell plenty of that combo that fits correctly.
Believe me you wont be able to tell looking at a 2 dimensional photo thats washed in a black hole. The fix is on a bench vice using chalk to discover rub points or if Im lucky sheet metal mounting points that need straitening. Nevertheless thats
Only a cosmetic fix and any use of such a weak mounting point held by only two tiny weak 3/32 screws will fail eventually allowing your QD attachment to pull that picatinny adaptor right out of the weapon. No, this requires more than rigging somthing that was rigged by design obviously. But I suppose I should be more kind in this day and age and say its in my professional opinion.
If you had a custom…i might would agree. But PSA has assembled thousands of firearms using the same receivers and the same adaptors, all of which align correctly. Just my $.02.
Having looked carfully at the problem, last night I used this marvelous brain God gave use to generate a 3D picture and fix in my mind. Basically after fixing the cosmetic part as discussed, I plan to find 1 large AK receiver
revit pin and use it to secure the entire picatinny adapter body to the receiver, so that it remains secure even if used as a bartering implement lol, serving both finish and function.
