PSAK47 gf3-5 railed dust cover

Anyone see the gf4 with the railed dust cover similar to what they make for the AKP? Hopefully they start selling them separately for sale. Having something to specifically fit their rifles would be great compared to TWS, etc

They said the first batch would go to guns in production. The next batch would be for sale.

Question on that AK railed dust cover – Is it going to hold its zero when it’s taken off for cleaning?

Thats always the question with these. I’ve heard the AKP has had no issues with retaining zero (dont own so cant say from first-hand) so I’m hopeful these will be g2g

Cant speak to the PSA design, but i have a TWS dogleg cover on a bulgy 74, and it returns to zero enough for a red dot to continue ringing a steel torso at 300. I would expect similar results from any railed cover with similar retention, although it would be good to see someone punch groups on paper with magnification before and after.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the TWS… It wobbled quite a bit side-to-side and their customer service stopped responding to me lol. Im hoping this solution will just fit even more solid being the same manufacturer

It probably will, if for no other reason than they are working with a specific product that they can control dimensions and manufacturing tolerances on. Beyond that, as materials and manufacturing machines and methods continue to improve, the end products generally follow suit. Compare magpul plastic ar-15 handguards, dirt cheap by today’s standards, to those hideous but technically correct options from the 80s and such.

If I see the listing before it sells out, I will volunteer my time, my psak 104, and my favorite oddball 7.62x39 surplus ammo and post some results here for the edutainment and amusement of all.

I will also volunteer my time, money and ammo! If I can catch them in stock

I think palmetto state could knock it out of the park if they make a rail system modeled on the Zenit rail (with the dual hinge point dust cover). I’ve got the Zenit on a arsenal SGL 2171 and it is rock solid. Absolutely no issues with losing zero on those things

I was fortunate enough to get one of these dust covers about a month ago. Install was easy enough (You’ll need a roll pin punch).

So far I’ve put a couple hundred rounds and it’s held zero great. There were no instructions on installation, but it’s relatively straight forward. Took me about 30 minutes to mount it on my PSAK-103.

??? :face_with_diagonal_mouth: at the questions above.

It’s hinged. It holds zero. The AKV has it stock. I believe the AKP does too.

and it is an option on the 104:

The one in your picture is more like the Texas weapons system style hinge. It works but it’s not nearly as robust as the Zenit style.

I have five or six Palmetto State aks with the psa hinged cover as well as a zenit so I’m speaking from experience. I’m definitely not knocking palmetto state I have a safe full of them but for the ultimate in AK rigidity the zenith style is top notch

Did you guys get the part that replaces the rear sight with the dust cover? Mine appears to be missing. Just an empty slot with a threaded hole.

@ian my 104 dust cover does indeed replace the rear sight. It came with a small rear sight that attaches to the pic rail.

I called customer service and they said to visit the blog. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just address the issue.

I installed one of these on my AK105. I think the roll pin was too large, so it caused some damage going in. Also, I think the “wings” where it hinges were bent because of this. It now does not hinge smoothly and causes damage.

The peep on mine was very loose on delivery and I had to REALLY torque it to get it down to minimal play, and it is hitting about 2 1/2 feet high at 35 yds.

On the good news front, I have only zeroed it, but with a Sig Romeo 5, failing light and bifocals I was very impressed with the accuracy. The top group is 3 rounds of Republic ball and 3 rounds of Barnaul HP. It looks like it isn’t going to have any problem holding zero.

I got an email last week that they were in… 2 minutes later they were sold out.
