We missed the snow. It was supposed to be a little of both today.
Finally got the AK-P GF3 out for a run. 7th round FTE with steel cased. Besides that she ate steel and brass with zero hiccups all day.
Our S&W M&P 15-22 pistol always jammed like crazy before. I installed a Volquartsen extractor and she ate and spit 100 rounds flawlessly. I’m SO happy, it’s probably the most popular gun collectively throughout the entire family. Now we can finally shoot the crap out of it. Previously it jammed 40 percent of the time.
we must have been thinking the same today.
Range day!
Took my daughters FIL to shoot some of the new toys since last time he was in town.
On a whim I mentioned to bring along our 9 year old grandson,
Totally to my surprise my daughter and husband said OK. (both of them MD’s, 1 a ER doc and other vascular surgeon and dont shoot).
So today the Grandpa’s took him for a trip to the local indoor range and am happy to say America has one more shooting enthusiast.
Or as his other gpa said " a new republican"!
His very first shot was a TX-22 suppressed
He then moved on to the PSA lower with bca 22 upper with reflex site.
It also had a 22 suppressor and he enjoyed himself immensely.
I had so much fun showing and helping him I almost forgot to shoot myself.
Nor a bad afternoon, 2 grandpas and their oldest grandson shooting 22’s
Good Video is too big to upload
I know how that goes. When the kids go I hardly get to shoot.
I shot the 1st mag of the .22 to see if the gun would jam. My 9 year old shot the rest of the mags and my 16 year old got the last mag.
The AK-P I shot the first mag, then my 16 year old shot everything else until the last mag and I shot that tandem with the 9 year old for about ten rounds until I let him hold it by himself with no assistance and he shot the remainder of the last mag.
The Dagger was about a 50/50 split until I shared the last mag with the little guy. He was scared of the pistol lol. I was too . It was easier for him to shoot the AK which seemed opposite of what I’d expect.
So pretty much they burn up the ammo and I stand there and smile. Being soaking wet in the rain just makes for a good time.
Oh I do. The little guy helped me load stripper clips last week then load about 12 5.56 mags with them. Those are for the zombie apocalypse (or the next shoot)
Today he helped with the AK mags and the .22, the Dagger mags were already loaded. Today we had minimal rounds because we preloaded and packed it all up. (Long walk from the truck) also I’m not standing around loading mags in the rain, haha.
My club has a CMP program and now that mom and dad pleasantly surprised us with allowing him to go shooting with us , I see that in his future. Not that his parents hate guns , its just they have to see and deal with the other side far too often at work. To be honest until yesterday he never even saw a gun or knew I had any or carried daily his whole life…I didn’t push it and waited, with success, yea! His other Gpa is a green card immigrant citizen from India and is the one that called him a “new republican” talking to his son in-law in New York that works for latia James… got to love it. he is more American than many born here…
CMP does a really great job with helping the kids learn about firearms safety and all aspects of marksmanship.
I live a couple of hours away from Talladega.
Our club is pretty active sponsoring the team and they do well in comps.
We just funded them for camp perry last meet.
We are lucky it is only an hour or so from us so it works out well.
