unexpectedly early does not sound good
Hopefully just Because Bloody F’n Cold, and not Because Bloody Firearm Incident.
It was beautiful outside
50°
After 200 or so flawless rounds
And yes…I know about case expansion on steel. And she is in there tight! I destroyed two cleaning rods trying to drive it out because I was unprepared with a rod long enough for this…and I’m impatient AF. I wanted to shoot it a lot more than I got to
The Romeo 7s both sighted in quickly and effortlessly
thats a bummer about the stuck shell… the new target looks like a blast for sure. i really need to get out to the range sometime soon
How many rounds were fired before it stuck? Rapid fire? The steel ammo has a polymer coating to prevent corrosion. Maybe it melted and then it built up residue to point where where there was zero clearance? Theory… Clean with AR breech brush real good after you clear jam. Let us know, I fire nuthin but TULA due to cost and saving my brass for when the SHTF.
About 200
No
This was Tula
Everything @bonamoleonard posted is on point, in my experience running the gun “extra wet” helps as well. Steel cased ammo has a bad rap for being dirty ammo. Most of it is justified but most people can run it through their guns if the proper care is taken. Pay close attention to any type of fouling in the chamber, keep the gun wet, and keep spare extractor parts nearby. Steel cased ammo does cause extra wear and tear, so parts will need to be replaced more frequently.
For 200 rounds it was pretty clean. And this is the first 200 through the rifle.
I was running it wet enough that I have lube splattered on the side of my optic.
This is just one of those things. Not the guns fault at all. Just a weak case that expanded more than it should have. We all know it happens…
I’m more upset that I didn’t plan ahead and have a rod with me to knock it out at the range.
Those are normally the lessons you remember, I’ll never forget my first crew served range in boot camp. Never thought to grab an extra pair of ear pro until I lost one while working the range. We wen’t live and my left ear rang for what felt like 3 days. Needless to say I ALWAYS have spare ear pro on the range now lol.
Mortaring didn’t jar it loose?
Nope
Not even a little
One of my favorite shooting experiences was an MP5 with an integral suppressor. I could easily keep them on a dinner plate at 25 yards, full auto.
That suks RMJ. Had a similar incident last summer, neglected to check head space on CBC brass and some other brands I reloaded, lesson learned. CBC case got stuck, dumped some Ballistol down the barrel, let it sit for a few hours, was then able to tap it out with a rod. Good Luck
Did you ever clear the jam? We all bin sittin around chere just awaitin ta find out one way or t’other…

The junky old jammed up rifle looks hotter.
