Sig Sauer P320 M17 & M18 Government and Commercial

I know we’ve spoken about the m17 and m18 sigs before on her and i’ve expressed my desire to have them in my collection one day because of the fact that the military chose them as their current sidearms. I like to have an example of each of the US military guns we’ve used. Well i got lucky yesterday and was able to trade a guy a glock 19 that i had gotten for only 250.00 for a m17. Thus i now have a m17 in the collection its in perfect condition, and came with all its stuff, so that was good,. I havent shot it yet, but im sure it shoots like all other 320’s. at least all others that havent been tweaked with by replacing triggers and things. I still want to get a M18 down the road too, just cause it too is used in by our armed services, but im in no rush. and for what i have invested versus what these cost im pretty happy with it.. Yeah I know 320’s reputation for firing when dropped and some say even when not dropped, but that generally wont bother me as i never will carry the gun. it will if anything be a range gun for me.

does anyone else have the M17 or M18 and any opinions or information or comments they wish to share?
Here’s mine.

I have both of them. Got the 17 first after a RSO told the group I was with try this. It felt good and shot amazing. Bought the 17 the next day, 3 of my buddies did the same.

I was never sold on the “it goes off by itself” thing. I bought them as a truck gun, not a EDC as they are a bit big for conceal carry. Not a fan of open carry.

glad you have one and hope you get to add the 18 soon.

I got the M17 like a month after all the news articles started to drop about it firing when dropped. I’m with you @GamecockOperator in that I didn’t buy it intending for it to be a EDC but more so as a fun range gun. When I bought mine from a buddy who was selling it, it came with like 8 Sig mags, Wilson Combat grip and two Kydex holsters. Mags alone made the deal worth it for me. After putting several hundred rounds down range, I learned that the only thing I really don’t “like” is the trigger. This is also comparing it to a Glock 17 so my viewpoint may be a little biased. Even though the trigger is a little spongy, I learned it and it has become a gun that was easy to be proficient with. I started holstering it in on my hip and it has actually been a reliable woods gun in BFE.

One day I’ll get the M18 as well but it has to be the right deal again. I’m not paying above MSRP for it. I was actually excited for everyone turning on Sig, I thought I was going to be able to buy P320s on a fire sale. Strangely, the prices went up around here.

@welder yeah sounds like you got a hell of a deal with all those spare mags and extras.. i think i’d of jumped on it there too with all that. it also sounds like you have spent enough time to get to know it and to realize what it is and isnt, and to have an honest feel for the gun now. i appreciate the review by you and how you felt about it because you have put time behind the trigger and experience with the gun. Triggers can be finicky depending on personal preference, and they make replacements, so if i find the same thing i may replace it but i doubt that i would because i want to keep it how the military would have kept it mostly. I’m with you i’ll grab an 18 when it gets to be a good enough deal in front of me. I wont pay msrp either it has to be a steal for me to get into it usually. and I like you thought the 320 prices would go through the floor with all the negativity around the 320 firing issue returning yet again, and again. i noticed it is easier to trade into one, but as for buying the msrp sticker seems to havent dropped, used prices vary depending on the owner and thus what the seller thinks they can get or want to get… i think i did pretty good in my instance., even if it did come missing one mag… as i believe it is supposed to come with 2 21 round mags, and 1 what 15 round? or 17 round? i dont remember the lesser round count mag. mine only came with 1 21 round mag and 1 15 round mag.

When I first got my M18 I took this pic of it beside my 320 carry 45. Since I have swapped out the trigger shoe on the M18 and a threaded barrel. Until one of these puts a dent inside my safe without a skinner attached to it, I refuse to buy into any of the 320 hysteria.

cool photo… i in all my wisdom didnt know that they even came in .45 for the 320s.. that may be something i wanna look into as well.. i dont blame you on your logic either about putting a dent in the safe too.. makes a firm argument in my book.. which is why im not really worried about it myself.. i just need to find a m18 to trade into easily with something i dont mind getting rid of and 2, something i already have duplicates of or wanna get rid of. lol

Can anyone recommend an optic for the 320 m18 that is budget friendly? and a light ? Thanks

Holosun. PSA has them all the time for under $200, depending on what you want. Cylee and Gideon also make Fantastic optics, especially for their Price Point.

The light - the Braun weapon light at Harbor Freight. Fiddy Bucks. Sign up for their email, they send 10%-20% off codes to you all the time.

All these items have been tested to Destruction multiple times by multiple YouTubers. Look ‘em up.

You aren’t going to be an “Operator” with them, but you DID specify “Budget”.

I have XTen 320 one of my favorite 10mm, I am fan of the round and enjoy shooting it and it is a tack driver. But no M18/17 in the collection yet, some of them are pretty cheap due to reputation

I saw some LEO trade p320s for $206, just this week! Sold Out, of course.

Link I took the screenshot came from my Brother - he has a job lets him browse this stuff all day, on/off anyway.

I know Nothing about this vendor, never heard of them before this. Caveat Emptor

Thank you, really appreciate it, im still learning. I still need to figure out how to match them to my sig, not sure how to determine the platform, i think i need to disassemble to find out. I didnt think it would be that way.

I have already posted my 3 military decommissioned Sig M17 , one military contract overrun m17, one military contract overrun m18 and my P320 Scorpion AXG. I still carry my Scorpion AXG and I have never had any issues with it. I tried my best using snap caps to get it to fire without pulling the trigger and I couldn’t get it to fire no matter what I did to it without pulling the trigger. I did all of the stuff that you see online to get one to fire without pulling the trigger. Being that the Scorpion AXG is from the Sig Custom Shop that may have made a difference as far as resolving the issue with the P320. The Scorpion AXG are supposed to be fitted better, have better internals, more refined and several different upgrades over a stock P320.

well greg as i had posted earlier i finally was able to land a M17, commercial version. I would have loved to have a contract overrun or the decommissioned like you have, but it was not something that i was able to do at those times. I kinda get it while i can type of thing alot of the times.. my next hunt is the m18 for these. probably another commercial version… but alas, itll do what i need either way.. just not quite as bad ■■■ as yours are! lol

now as for your Scorpion AXG, that gun looks amazing… for a 320 im highly impressed. is it a polymer frame still? it looks metal to me.. almost like sig did the legion work, and then went above and beyond by doing the scorpion work to it too… either way i love it.. well done! I really need a threaded barrel for my m17 now im t hinking.. I did put a romeo sight on it and like it so far. I also put my sig sauer tac light on it too.. so its all sigged up if you will  I think i need to buy 1 more regular cap magazine, and then a holster or two for it..depending if i want both inside and outside or just inside the waist.. we’ll see. i dont plan on carrying it much so imay just go with an outside in leather and be done with it.

No Steve it has the first P320 to have an aluminum alloy frame hence the term (AXG). It was also the very first Sig from the Sig Custom Shop. Only a limited run of them were made. I like how my M17 & M18 fit in my hand and how they shoot. I knew for me I would prefer the aluminum frame and I liked how they look so I picked one up. They can still be found new and used if you look. It fits my hand perfectly and has great balance.

honestly there are so many 320s out there with letters following the model numbers i cant keep up. i thought it was a metal frame though and knowing its an aluminum one explains why it looks so good to me. i bet it feels much better in the hand too. man you always have the coolest stuff.. with this being a limited run and what not… too awesome. way to go!!! Since i havent shot my m17 yet, i will say that i do llike the feel in the hand that much is for sure. i can only hope that i like how acccurate it is in my hands too.. time will tell . Maybe ill be lucky enough to stumble into one of my own one day

It is my go to gun or sidearm at home or at the shooting range. I carry a P365 all the time when I am out and I shoot it also a good bit also.

Well I got to get off of my phone. Lilly is making biscuits on my chest and headbutting my phone pretty forcefully. :cat_with_wry_smile::grin: I guess that it is time for a midnight pet session with Miss Lilly.

i’ve yet to shoot or even handle a p365…do you like it more than say the dagger micro? im planning on retiring my p938 and p238 to the dagger micro here someday soon hopefully. From what ive been told and seen the micro is one heck of a pistol and has twice the ammo as my lil 938/238’s do.

Shooting a p365 vs a p320 (sub-model depending) is comparable to the difference in say, a Glock 43x and a Glock 17/19.

The guns are narrower, lighter, and the trigger on the 365 is a bit different than the 320 - the 365 is more “Glock-ish” - a little heavier, not so “crisp” (not that any of the 3-4 320’s I’ve shot would I ever class them as “glass-rod-breaking”).

Anyway, they’re none of those terrible. Except to snobs.

I never warmed up to the p320. It’s always seemed like a perfectly competent pistol, but even paired with my favorite gun oil, the mouth feel just isn’t there for me.

I also feel that, with the way this entire “self-clearing-chamber” debacle has been handled by Sig, at least the Civilian Market for the p320 is Doomed to fade into the Memory Hole.
