I was wondering if anyone has purchased a customized Glock from either Suarez International or Boresight Solutions. I’m torn 3 ways:
Getting a Glock 49 & having it customized with a grip (hump) reduction, index points/thumb ledges & stippling, along with a custom slide cut for the Holosun EPS & a threaded barrel. Apex, Pyramid, Suarez or Precision Overwatch trigger EVENTUALLY. I know the 2 above companies do such work & wanted to see what it looked like for reference. This is not to say I’d go with either company for the work, as I have a local gunsmith who does grip reduction & stippling for $120. The threaded barrel would be for either a Suarez or Strike Industries Micro Comp/thread protector.
Getting a Shadow Systems MR920L & a Holosun EPS, in which case all of the above frame work is unnecessary, but the cost is similar ($1019 for an MR920L with threaded barrel & $350-$400 for the EPS)
Getting a Compact Dagger with Compact X long slide, having it stippled & getting an EPS mounted by using the RMR adapter plate that comes with the optic. The only thing with this option is that I wouldn’t be able to get a micro comp, since the Compact X slides don’t come with a threaded barrel option, although I could buy 1.
The ONLY thing I know for certain is that I want a compact frame with a 4.5 inch barrel. This is because A) I don’t have the world’s biggest hands & find the Glock (ish) 19 frames to fit perfectly & B) I like the balance of the longer slide & barrel in conjunction with the compact frame.
Any photos of such a setup &/or pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!
My dude, I’m asking this with genuine respect, so please don’t take it the wrong way, but how many times are you going to make topics and posts looking for different recommendations and combinations and setups?
Simplify your thought process. You already know what fits your hands well. Stop there and make a decision on the weapon and the weapon alone. Nothing more. You stated the Dagger gives you the grip, pistol size, and barrel length you want. You’ve said multiple times budget is a concern, so the PSA is a better choice than the Shadow Systems. There you go.
Worry about accessorizing it as necessary after the fact. You may even find that once you have it you don’t want to modify it at all. But nobody will be able to tell you exactly what you want, especially when you’re talking about multiple different combinations of accessories and modifications on multiple different firearms.
No offense taken. And budget has become less of a concern now that we’ve finally sold our house. I’m simply interested in a variety of opinions on how to skin this particular cat. Mainly, I want to actually SEE the setups that others may have. If I had to pick RIGHT NOW, I’d probably be going with the Shadow Systems. But something about the idea of being able to customize something & make it “mine” sounds pretty good.
I WILL grant you that I’ve been afflicted with “paralysis by analysis” syndrome, but that’s because I’ve been keeping my powder dry on this purchase for close to a year. Between saving up & also getting the house sold, its so close I can TASTE it. I’m not normally an indecisive person. If anything, most who know me would call me impulsive. I just want to suck up all the info I can.
If that’s what your gut’s telling you and the price is no longer a concern, then IMO that’s your route. Sounds like you may be disappointed if you went elsewhere. I also understand the desire to customize, but, alternatively, not messing with something guarantees reliability and warranty. Just two more of my cents you didn’t ask for, nothing more.
And its MUCH appreciated. And I will admit that further customization past grip reduction/stippling & optic would put the price $100, if not more, above what the MR920L & the green EPS with MRS would cost. Not to mention factoring in a holster worth a damn since I’ll be open carrying.
And I would suggest the Dagger first mainly just because of the cost for the basic setup
You will get so much more enjoyment by customizing it yourself.
And then let that guide you.
Just my .02
While cost isn’t as much of a concern as it was when I started “The Quest for the Golden Gun,” I don’t think I’d be able to swing BOTH. Maybe further down the road, but not both at the same time. The Shadow Systems with the optic I want will run me about $1300-$1400. Then add in the cost of a good duty rated, level 2 retention holster (and GOOD GOD those Safariland rigs are PRICEY).
The Dagger will probably come into play when we replace my wife’s base model Sig 365 with something she can get a better grip on & that’s optic ready. I’m thinking the answer for her would be the X1 version of the Micro Dagger with a Holosun 507k. Whereas I open carry & therefore need an enclosed optic like the EPS, she carries concealed, so an open sight is probably more appropriate for her. So either a Micro Dagger or a Canik TP9 Elite SC would be something we’ll be considering down the road.
another thing i always look at is resale value. to me, and many others, customizing a pistol can devaluate it. for instance stippling a glock or a dagger or other similar guns ruin them, and if you have screwed up the frame by stippling them, there is no fixing that and you’ve basically ruined a gun. Sure glock will reframe a serial number for you for a price, but its still not the same as the original and i think they even mark it as such. but again… thats just my opinion especially since i hate stippling and damaging a frame by doing so…
