It is always better to earn something rather than to get something. That’s is the American way, I might be old fashioned.

Irondragon, this Exactly.
Waaaaay back in the Obama Era, a local Indoor Range was just getting started up and The Wife and I became Charter Members. As a promotional, they were giving away a .22lr AR-15-style Rifle.
Of course, just as we’re seeing right now - .22 Ammunition was as rare as Hen’s teeth, and we heard a lot of complaints like “Yeah - what good’s the gun if nobody has anything to shoot out of it”, etc.
So The Wife suggested we Donate a couple of Bricks out of our stash - we’re friends with the Owners and Staff, help them out a little bit. (AND we had the chance to win it Back - with a new Rifle!)
That exponentially increased their Membership Drive. We didn’t Win, but it was Great Fun generating more enthusiasm for their Grand Opening.

Have to agree with you on that. Let us peasants have a chance at rescuing the fair maiden from the gallows.
An Idea for a Giveaway, is to have Members post a short video ( 1-2 Minutes) of them out enjoying the 2nd Amendment right with family and friends
Since we are expecting a new wave of pandemic ammo shortage, I think you can’t really go wrong with those.
