Suggestions for the Third Giveaway!

I second the consolation prizes!

I want a Palmetto AR-10, so I’m ‘voting’ for that.

I think you should make it more complex… if you cannot follow basic instructions then maybe you don’t need free firearms

I think you’re on to something @barnes1182

2 things. Definitely improve user friendliness and consider issuing a gift card or something similar. This would attract more participants who may want something different than an AR. Added benefit is driving business to one of your stores for those who are in driving distance.

Is there a way to randomly select a forum member? Maybe a small giveaway ( PSA shirts, hat, sticker, gift card) every 2 weeks just for being a member of the forum. Supplement that with monthly midsize giveaways (larger gift certificates, gun accessories, PSA swag) for forum members.

A nice idea, but goal of the giveaway is to foster increased engagement. Getting a prize just for being a member doesn’t increase their engagement.

Ah… But what if people want join a community that awards them regularly just for being a part of it? We’re generally lazy creatures so getting rewards just for existing is attractive. The engagement comes from having a community that fosters knowledge and acceptance. It’s what attracted me to this forum. Gun snobs are awful out in the wild of the interwebs.

Again, not a bad idea at all. Maybe a random giveaway where the user has to log in and post a response within a time limit or the prize moves on to the next person until an active user claims the prize. That could encourage users to stay active.

The forum has a birthday and anniversary tracking function. Maybe that can be incorporated with your idea.

That said, if people are only here for the free stuff, well, that’s not good for community building.

Well guys, we all talked about this today and are waiting on final approval…but it’s hopefully going to be really awesome!

I like the idea of keeping it only to this group. It doesn’t always have to be some big. Some swag thrown in the mix would great. We do that at my job an it keeps the guys in good spirits. Well the FNG’s anyways lol. But in all seriousness it’s entirely up to y’all. Either swing at the ball an get a RBI. Or swing for the grand slam. Either one will win the game.

let’s be professional ~GuitarGuy

How about the long awaited psa5?!?!?!? Get that thing ironed out post the dang thing.

As much as I would personally like to win something like a pistol kit - I think that with all the new gun owners, and gun interest - you might bring (and attract) them more with a straight forward, plain, first time builder’s AR-15 lower budget kit, with sights and maybe a red dot, also with mags (as the last one had) and some ammo for range time.

This post sums up my thoughts if the goal is to draw new owners. I joined the forum after my first PSA build. I don’t have an interest in becoming a power user with x number of posts or with an exotic custom package. I was excited for the previous give away but would have ignored an email for something more involved.

I would love a t-shirt,
I would love a new gun.
But whatever it is
i know we’ll have fun

How about a 2 liter glass boot. with the PSA logo on it for the oktoberfest givaway ?

I stay reasonably engaged here, but that’s mainly because I enjoy it. The last contest was pretty much what I expect for entering a giveaway, but maybe without the pick a number part? Have it you must post something other than just “pick me” during the time frame of the contest?

We have a couple more giveaways lined up in the near future. I was toying around with the idea of doing something flair ( badge ) based. Post in a category ( known / unknown ) and it will award you a badge. Those with the badge are entered in to the competition.

I think the easiest giveaways to do are photo ( like count ) giveaways - but I was unsure if this would bore people. Definitely open to ideas on how to improve.

Only thing on the photo likes giveaways is that people who already have nice guns will get even more nice guns. Let the rank and file have a chance too at the swag, by making it random.

jb, that’s an Excellent idea!

If we’re wanting Investment in Community Participation, earning one’s way via “quality” over quantity, this seems at least one (relatively) simple solution.
