If I’m remembering correctly the rock doesn’t have a tilting barrel so should I use the solid mount are use it with the buffer. I got a Obsidian 45 and 1/2 by 28 adapters for it. I got the 45 so it will work with all my guns and the ones I plan to buy and my brother in-laws guns so he can use it, after he’s added to the trust.
Thanks
Rugged has said before not to use their obsidians with 5.7. You need a 22 can rated for the 5.7 due to pressures.
You are correct in that it is not a tilt barrel, so you would need a fixed spacer in the can instead of the neilson device.
Additonally, the obsidian is probably too heavy to cycle the gun.
Just checked and neither obsidians are rated for 5.7.
Ok, thanks I have multiple guns to use it on.
I run a banish 45 on it with absolutely no issues, never used subs. I switch it from a g40, g21, only change the piston and leave buffer spring on.
You should not use a spring (neilson device) on a can on the Rock 57
Thanks everyone, this is my first so I’m still learning more. I sent Rugged an email to see if it was 5.7 sub sonic safe. I’ll wait until I don’t need a tax stamp if bill passes to get a dedicated small caliber suppressor, the Obsidian 45 works with my 10mm and 9mm carbine and 9mm pistol so im good with my purchase.
Thanks again everyone for help / advice. Waiting on paperwork that silencer shop has to do according to my FFL. Any recommendations for best sub 9 and 10 mm to use,
Bob
Any specific reason? My research prior to using it was mixed. I am hundreds of rounds in without issue.
Yes. The barrel doesn’t tilt. You don’t need it to cycle the action and you could get a baffle strike.
Thanks for the information, even though its performing fine, I see its not the best idea. I am going to get a fixed barrel spacer. Thanks again.
Hansohn brothers may have a cheap one that fits. I always check there first.
I caved and ordered the SilencerCo Sparrow 22. Now to decide if I pay $200 on a tax stamp or wait for how ever long it takes for the $0 to take effect. It’s on back order so don’t know when they will get it back in stock.
Thanks everyone who gave me help/advice
6 months for the tax stamp..
4 weeks for my first last January but it’s a AAC Halcyon/Silencer Shop
oh it doesn’t take long to get one in AZ, but 6 months until they don’t tax $200 anymore
Misunderstood on my part
The one I ordered is on backorder I’ll probably just pay the $200 I have some collectable Hot Wheels I can sell. My first one was ordered on June 1st and got it on the 15th.
I’ll be 21 soon (2-3 months), and I’m definitely going to get at least 1 suppressor before the $200 fee is gone. I don’t want to gamble with the possibility of longer wait times for my first can.
Many of the good suppressor models are already “out of stock” very regularly and there should be an increased demand once the stamp is $0. Also, the ATF could also decide to move slower since the “infinite money glitch” of fast approvals no longer makes money.
