If you live in Colorado remember, New Gun Laws go into effect August 1st, 2026.
There is still time if you act this year to buy the gun you want or buy the lower receivers for the guns you want, without having to jump through all the new Government hoops
Which laws are you referring to? I’m unaware of anything affecting firearm purchases or owners beginning August 6 of 2025.
New laws signed in 2025 will take effect August 2026.
Some laws for gun stores went into effect July 1 2025
Bill 34 is hilarious only a warped leftist would come up with something like that thinking it might work. I’m sure all the virtue signallers will be all over it though.
Actually you are right and I had it wrong, I’ll edit it next. A bunch of laws DO go into effect here in Colorado on the 7th of next month. I guess I mixed Aug. 6, 2025 with the Aug. 1, 2026 when it looks like most of the gun bills go into effect (until struck down in a higher court I hope)
All of it is unconstitutional BS
They have ruined one of the best states in the nation
The new CC regs have gone into effect
Beginning July 1, 2025, permit renewals also require demonstrating handgun competence through a training certificate
One hoop I’m not sure I want to comply with. I’m not scared of the requirement, I’m angry. Do I need to prove competency while voting, or speaking in public?
No. No I don’t. So why am I subject to this as a gun owner since 1997…

IMHO It, like so many other “Gun Laws” has racist roots. Clearly an 8 hour training class (A whole day off work ) with range time, is going to effect the poor more then the rich.
In Colorado (2023 data):
White households: $96,764 median income
Black households: $64,391 median income
This is the exact same people who say having to have an ID to vote is meant to keep minorities from voting. That now want a class, a competence test, then an ID each paid for by the gun owner.
if they think ID requirements for voting are racist, their intent in making concealed carry this much more costly and arduous is clear.
It makes me mad how the 2nd amendment has been raped nation wide state by state. And now at the threshold is Colorful Colorado
Talking to @rockymountainjeep they’ve already kicked in the door and tossed out the 2A.
Sad.
Only 152 pages? Surely there are Grundles of firearms that are being left-off with so little effort exerted on this puny document!
Why is the dept of revenue generating a list???
Quick check…they missed the PA-10
And why is the dept of wildlife implementing??
Amateurs! That’s the FIRST one I would have put on the list!
My guess is that like many states the Dept of Wildlife in Colorado can get on your land without a warrant in many cases that the State police can not. Also for a long time hunters & wildlife officers had (mostly) the same goals in Colorado. When they combined the financially solvent Dept. of Wildlife with the financially crippled parks dept. most of us could see the writing on the wall that the anti gun parks people would take control… and they largely have.
I was thinking that in the back of my mind. It’s similar here in Ohio. Game warden has more freedom than any other law enforcement.
Any stick you entrust to the keeping of the government, will seemingly be someday used to beat you with ![]()
Hunters gave vast powers to game wardens in our zeal to protect wildlife, it was only a matter of time before government showed us how that power could be turned against lawful gun onwers.
Game Wardens have always had more power than the Police or Sheriff. They can enforce all of the laws that the Police or Sheriff does along with all of the wildlife laws. They go to the same Criminal Justice Academy as regular LEO but then go on to more school for the wildlife laws.
