The Venerable FN Herstal SCAR series

Has been totally discontinued by FN. Earlier this Month Colion Noir (youtuber) had said goodbye to the Scar Rifles on his channel at the end of a Scar specific Post. this caused much confusion as no official responses had been forthcoming from FN. Well About 10-15-25 According to the FN Forums This Was Posted. Scar Rifles Discontinued. ALL not just RCH ones..

And for some more information from The Firearm Blog…

Can’t help but think the JAKL being available at about a third the price put a nice little dent in their sales.

The SCAR was always a niche rifle. Its cool, but its extremely heavy, expensive, and kills optics.

It sure as hell wasn’t the BRN 180 - ‘cuz that s.o.b. has more’n DOUBLED in price since they introduced it. And it’s going up again next year.

I kick myself every time I think about it, for not getting that 350 Legend Gen2 upper while I could, too. All they sell now is 5.56 or 300blk.

The gen 3 BRN-180 has been having a LOT of problems.

I expect a G4, and another price increase very soon.

Or they drop it entirely. Just because I bought the AR-180/BRN-180 retro lower. And they keep getting further and further away from the styling I wanted. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Im not sure you can point to a single rifle that caused the scar to be canceled (I think they are keeping the 16p version iirc), but you have many ARs now like the Jakl, Brn180, Sig variants, etc. That allow shooting with a folded stock. All of those combined probably had an impact.

Agreed, plus the SCAR just generally not being worth the cost. Most of the hype surrounding it is from video games and the look, not its function and performance.

Looks like they are going to be even more collectable then they already are. Better get one while you can. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@GamecockOperator has his.

Quite possibly. I’ve noticed the past few years at the gathering, its been odd and quite conspicuous that a national Firearm builder for both commercial and military applications was not represented there when you even had such big names as Springfield, Glock, SIg Sauer.. but no..no FN Herstal… oh well..

yeah perhaps so, but it was / is a bad ■■■ rifle in the 7.62x51/308 platform an you throw a scope on it

that was made for it, well it rocks and rolls then! the 5.56 scars however seem to not have been / gone over swell sadly. not really sure as to why though.

you’re probably right here.. the fact is technology changes and grows things.. and lets all face it.. its like 3999 msrp and you can sometimes get it in stores around 3299.99 and on sale maybe a PSA super price cut down to like 2999.99 which is not a cheap rifle at all. II really dont know if any or all my friends can just say hey, im gonna go buy a new Jackl now today from PSA at that price point. I know i cant. In fact just about every single high expensive FN Herstal gun i’ve ever gotten and hung onto are made by

Now this is dependent upon the user. the juice may be worth the squeeze to someone who loves to shoot it.. and hated by others. and then there is the others that are like well its cooland all, i just wish it wasnt anywhere near its price, and a lot closer to say 1200. but even at that price id have trouble justifying it to my wife who would rather i use that money elsewhere instead of on a hobby im sure

Very True. I got lucky and was able to snatch one up in a trade.

this may be very true.. this is also why i am exceptionally pleased i was able to jump into my kit and what not when i have.

well this figures.. right after i get my scar 17.. havent had it for more than about a year really… and viola.

now after watching the video, im very happy to have watched it to hear that a lot of its parts are backwards compatible. if you look at it and mine you might not know that mines a gen 1 though unless you know what you’re looking at in my opinion. im interested in seeing how the recoil has been changed and how much softer it shoots though… they said that they were trying to address the urban legend about breaking optics due to recoil… lol.. its amazing the way they spinned that.. lol. im excited to see how it shoots yes, but it doesnt mean i wanna sell mine and go get a gen 2 right away… i am just happy to see that the SCAR line is not dead, just a new generation.

Just hang on to it, and get a Gen 2 in addition! :winking_face_with_tongue:

(I finally Broke on Sunday night, and bought one of those Beretta 84BB’s - and The Wife found out the next day because she snooped and found the wooden grips I bought to go on it when it gets here… it wasn’t a pleasant text, like soft nekkid-lady body parts or anything… more like a nekkid Fist…)

(I blamed my Brother as an Enabler - he encouraged me to do it!)

(You can Blame me for your new G2 SCAR the same way!)

hahah oh trust me i wouldnt get rid of it at all… but you have no idea how long it took me to find a trade to get it.. theres no way i can drop 3500 for a scar anywhere or even 2500…

but i apreciate you as the scape goat.. and loved and laughed at your story.. i too thought about those beretta 84bb’s though.. kinda want one still.
