TheGunCollective's shooting review of the Rock

TheGunCollective did a decent shooting review on the Rock.
Some issues:

  1. Has anyone else had issues with running light grain ammo and a heavier Optic on their pistol?
It appeared that their pistol didn’t care for the use of Fiocchi 35gr frangible with a 2+ oz optic mounted.
  2. Operator interference with pistol function.
They found that you can’t baby the weapon to get the slide to function and if you have larger hands or grip issues obstruction of slide movement happened or the slide lock could be hit.
  3. Pistol makes a great range toy but…
It seems their pistol initially was particular on what ammo it liked otherwise it ran fine.

All told once again the Rock came thru showing its a great pistol for its price.

Honestly surprised it cycled at all with an optic that heavy. I guess the fiocchi ammo has some kick to it.

Edit, I just finished the video. I thought they were using the fiocchi ammo the whole time.

Holosun 507k weighs 1oz.

But they were using the swampfox kraken which weighs 2.5 Oz, plus the 0.3 Oz adapter plate.

Yeah the issue cycling with a large optic on the slide is not a surprise to anyone who’s well versed in these.

It’s ultimately a bad optic on they’re part, not understanding platform at all and just dropping on whatever they had.

To be fair to them, when I first saw the rock, the first red dot I thought to put on it was the kraken. Still sad it doesn’t work well together.

In the end they decide that it’s a good gun that they like shooting but, to them, it’s a “range toy” not a “carry gun.”

Strangely enough, I don’t have a lot of problems carrying it. It’s like carrying a full sized 1911 only with 4 times the ammo and less weight.

Peace favor your sword,

Personally I’d like to see how it would work with a heavier grain bullet for defensive use. Otherwise if it’s roughly like packing a 1911 Gov model alloy frame then yeah it’s got EDC potential, especially if ya reload and can try Gold Dot, V-Max or other 55+gr rds.

Why would you want a heavier grain bullet? Heavier bullets are slower and tend to be less effective on target. They’re also more difficult to stabilize in a handgun barrel, which will then further reduce effectiveness.
