Has anyone here had any problems with what appears to be a tight chamber on a Dagger Micro? I just got my micro and have taken it shooting 3 times. now, with about 300 rounds through it. On occasion, it will not fire when I pull the trigger. I hear and feel a click, then have a dead trigger, obviously because it was expecting to reset with the slide, and the slide didn’t move. When it first happened, I tried to rack the slide and it would not move, either forward or back. The first two times, I was able to finally get the slide off it and the barrel was stuck to the slide because the extractor was attached to the case still. I was able to get the barrel out finally by working at it, but let me tell you, the indoor range I was as seemed to get a lot hotter. I looked at the bullet and the primer was struck off center. I looked at the other fired cases and the strike mark was centered. I put the round back in the magazine, and the same thing happened to the same round. I though I had a bad round, worked it out again and saw the off center primmer strike in a second location and put the bullet in the bad cartridge container the range has. I finished shooting and left. I took the Micro apart and cleaned it and then went yesterday and shot again. It happened to me again 2 times. I decided to see if it was the magazine and went today and it happened 5 times. I figured out how to get the slide off the case by using a small screwdriver to pry the extractor out some and then was able to pry out the cartridge from the chamber using the screwdriver. The cartridges had off center primer strikes. The cases were really jammed in the chamber. I came home and started checking. I brought the bad cartridges home with me. I too the barrel out of the Dagger, I then tried dropping the cartridge into the chamber. It would almost go home and then stop. If I pushed it, it would get stuck and u needed to pry them out with a screwdriver. I started trying other cartridges. some dropped in without difficulty, some others were tight and a couple stuck. I tried all these in the barrel of my Taurus and they had no difficulty. I took out my micrometer and the cartridges that mic out at the the spec of .380 at the case mouth end, are the ones getting stuck. Every single case mics out within spec. I did put some magic marker on the cases and inserted them, I see it is rubbing about 2 mm back from the mouth of the case, and not necessarily all around, more on one side. Anyone have any ideas?
What all ammo? I have not heard of amy tight chambers in micros.
I’ve been using Supervel.https://supervelammunition.com/. I’ve probably shot 15,000 rounds of theirs. One of the rounds are within specifications when I use micro around them. It’s only the ones that are at .380 that are getting stuck. I also tested some.Herters, the bass pro shop brand (Winchester white box from what I’ve read) which was the same. And they all drop into the Taurus without a problem.
Try some different brand ammo and report back. Ive never heard of them before and it could be their issue vs the gun.
Wait, what? Dagger Micro is .380?
No its not. Irs 9mm. 9mm is close to .380 in diameter.
9mm and .380 use .355 diameter bullets, at different weights, lengths, and Ogives. They also share base sizes, and case mouth diameters, but a slight difference in taper. (But don’t share Case Length - the most important, of course)
But the way he references .380 made me read it as if he was shooting that cartridge out of the Dagger Micro, which I hitherto believed to be 9x19/Parabellum. Hence the question.
I’m at work, and some of this stuff I read “on the run” (sometimes literally) between tasks - without any paragraph breaks, sometimes comprehension can lag a bit.
Also why i told him to try different ammo. He is using a single brand and assuming his dagger is in the wrong.
I mic’d the case neck which was .380, which is what the standard is. I’m not shooting .380 auto through it
Mine likes the Blazer 124gr and sometimes I shoot 115 also if on sale. Also Winchester White box 115.
The forums talking about the Herter’s are of the opinion that it is Winchester white box. I find it’s dirtier than I really like
Winchester white box comes in a Winchester white box.
They also are contracted to Bass Pro shops currently. I spoke w the them when I bought it. When I opened the box, says Winchester on the head stamp
Herter’s 22LR is the dirtiest stuff I ever shot I think. I bought some herters .380 and 9mm in the red white and blue box. They were ok couple misfired in 100 pack.
There is always a chance Winchester doesn’t put same quality into 3rd party? Not sure, I like white box though. But my go to is the CCI stuff, rimfire is the best *IMO and cheap centerfire pistol ammo. I will even feed my Glocks and Walther’s the aluminum case when cheap enough and just punching paper. They eat anything.
Come to think of it sure wish CCI would make some 5.7! ![]()
What I was trying to say.
I was wondering if others had seen this. I checked the Super Vel with my micrometer and noted it was within spec for the standard. It did get stuck if the case neck was at the spec of .380, Length within spec also. They did not get stuck if the case neck was smaller than the spec of .380. I then checked the Herter’s I have. It is within spec but if the case neck is .380, gets tight also. I am unable to test the chamber specs, I don’t have an internal micrometer.
I haven’t had a chance to check other brands I have yet due to work. I questioned if it was caused because it was dirty. That’s why I cleaned it after the first day, and the went to test the next.
I did do A/B testing with the Micro Barrel, and my Taurus barrel. After the second days session. Drops in and out of the Taurus barrel, that’s why I was wondering if anyone had seen this. I did mark the rounds w a magic marker and the chamber rubs off the marker on one side of the chamber it seems. No markers on the actual bullet that I can tell.
I did have an extensive conversation w Danny from PSA in the subreddit, he’s offered to send a new barrel out to have me send in the pistol.
I appreciate everyone reading this and the comments. I’m sorry I hope this was a little clearer than in the initial post and hoped I made things clearer.
I’d definitely try different ammo as others mentioned.
Worst case scenario you have a lifetime warranty and PSA will definitely make it right. @ozawa59
Yeah always a chance a barrel got out of spec, doesn’t take much in the chamber for sure. I would for sure take him up on a new barrel to try.
