Truck guns

Recently I got a new to me Tacoma and I have been changing how I carry in my car. Moving to a truck has given me a bit more flexibility and I’m curious what y’all keep/mount in your vehicles. I normally carry a Glock 19 and will travel with an AR of some variation when traveling for work (This one is alphabet boy approved :sunglasses:).

Currently my setup is 1 spare mag of my daily carry in the center console, with a knife and flash light on the visor.

I also keep a gear bag in the back with:

  • 1 spare pistol mag for me
  • 1 spare mag for the wife’s carry
  • 2 AR mags
  • IFAK
  • flash light
  • knife
  • multi tool

I don’t intend to keep a firearm in my vehicle ever unless I’m actively in it, but would love to see what other gear y’all roll with!

I drive a F-250 with a premium trim level. I don’t carry :poop: anymore. Every gang banger or crack head alive knows how to pop my lock.

This is how we roll.

Bed mounted flame thrower…love it! :fire:

Might as well add humor…

As much as I’d love to have my shorty (AR) with me in my truck, that’s still not possible for us here in VA as far as I can tell. I suppose it’d be a Mossberg if I had to go somewhere that felt like my normal CCW wasn’t sufficient. I generally make a habit of staying away from places like that though.

I don’t keep anything in my truck. When I’m in the truck and driving around I might be carrying a CZ PCR or a M686 or a 92x or…

I don’t know about the new ones, but my 2012 Ram could hide a Ruger LCP beautifully in a quick/easy to deploy position.

Thieves don’t care about medic bags, other survival/medical gear, or even nicer knives. I leave all that in the truck but no more truck gun for the Ford.

Yeah, I can live with a knife or flash light disappearing, not a firearm. Most of the crime in my area is the typical door checkers late at night. I had a built in lock box in my JK wrangler and I wouldn’t even leave a gun in that over night.

My wife and I take handgun and carry with into wherever. But we don’t typically leave them in the truck. We also do not have any cool decals on back window indicating we like guns, etc. That is a direct invite to thieves…

I carry a Ruger LCP max in one pocket and in the other is a small streamlight and a pocketknife. In the SUV is a 9mm of some type either on the console or in the center console also extra mag for the Ruger and the 9mm. also in the console is some pepper spray. thought about one of the AR pistols just do not have the right place for it in the SUV.

Everything can fit in this non tactical flying under the radar backpack if necessary

The one time I’ve been mugged, I was walking towards the USF gym which has a 50 meter pool. I guess they are or were known for their basketball team. It’s a Catholic or Jesuit school in the middle of SF.

I was lost in thought, thinking about a circuit I was working on.

Got punched in the right jaw, enough to knock me out for a few seconds.

It was 4 teenagers from the projects at Divisadero & Geary. Cop said “we know who they are but we don’t have enough evidence to prosecute”.

Another incident where a firearm would probably have helped, some truck driver got lost on a dead end street near the Army Mission projects.

They beat the sh-t out of him and stole his cargo, seafood.

What are the scenarios that people have experienced in real life where it helped to have a firearm ?

Of course there may also be a “scare-crow” effect. Like having a cat. The cat doesn’t have to eat any rodents. He mostly plays with them.

But the rodents vacate the premises. Maybe visible firearms would have a similar effect.

Though the way car break-ins are going in some or most places … might be good to have Extra Thick glass - to keep the firearm from being stolen. Guess I’m thinking of the visible rifle gun rack, obviously there are different approaches.

With the right bag an AR pistol is really easy to toss in the car now a days.

It took FOREVER to find just the right size backpack so as to not tip my hand…

Who makes that cover on the visor?

Ditto :+1:t3:

Zulu Nylon Gear. Had the visor panel and a few other things from them for years and everything has survived the abuse I put it through, so in my opinion it’s good stuff.

I love the fall, I can carry an ak under my jacket :joy: seriously, help your game wardens when there are destroyed deer on the road that need to be put down

Ukelele Case.
