man it went from beautiful to damn scary in just about .02 seconds.
be safe out there.
Oh man can you smell and taste it yet? Here in Alaska when we get fires (every summer) sometimes it hovers over the place with the smell etc.
Yeah the smoke is starting to filter down now, it’s when the ash falls and it’s still hot that things get spooky, they said 14,000 acres an hour or two ago so??? 25,000 maybe 30,000 by now I’d guess. Calling it the Jones Fire.
as big of an area that looks on the map you posted, i fear it wouldnt take all that long to reach you, if they call for an evacuation, you haul ■■■.. no matter what.. get your loved oens and pets, and maybe a gun or two and haul ■■■. no exceptions.
Yeah, in this wind 10 miles is an hour if the fire wants to come this way, or it could all reach the Colorado river and die out without crossing. Planning for the 1st, hope for the 2nd.
Good luck to you and yours. Like GCO said… gather your family and get out if this thing gets close.
When l was stationed at Ft Carson it would rain about 4 pm almost every day in that summer of 1980…May of 80 when St Helens’ blew the ash fall-out was unbelievable!
Prayers for all y’all on the west side ![]()
