When does it stop!

It doesn’t stop but it does slow down. After a while you will accumulate enough tools and parts that you can stick to buying new guns and other accessories. I went from nothing to more than I need faster than I would like to admit but still always want more. There is always something you “need”.

I couldn’t agree more kriscbt.

I started out replicating the M16A1 I had in BCT and on.

I then I had the honor of working with a number of the remaining Son Tay Raiders still on Active Duty or working as Government Civilians in the Subject Matter Expert field…this lead me to the XM177E2 and its USAF counterpart… its never let up going back to the 80’s

Dont look for a Cure…look for more Space.

Just like any hobby some of the initial costs are investments that can be used on other acquisitions. I calculated how much the final (for now) expense is just for the rifle, not counting mags, bag, FFL, tax, shipping, etc. The rifle now sits at $1041. So, I have more than doubled the cost in upgrades. But it sure looks sweet.

I’ve never seen that charging handle before now. I always thought the hype around nicer charging handles was probably overblown internet hype until I finally decided to upgrade mine. Just a nice quality of life improvement, for sure, but I didn’t know PSA had an offering or I would have strongly considered it.

I guess when I build the next one, I’ll give this CH a try. Thanks for sharing!

When you have 7 magazines in your shopping cart,

which you are buying because the price has suddenly been reduced,
and because they are becoming illegal to buy in 15 days,

and you spend an extra $170 on a Scope - to save money -

then the High Psychologists of Firearms Marketing definitely have you right where they want you.

I’m beginning to wonder if Rabbi Cahana, the Official Gun-grabber behind Oregon Measure 114, is friends with Marshall Lerner, CEO of Primary Arms.

On December 8, will they announce that “it was All a Big Joke”, to persuade people to buy Firearms stuff ?

Did that this morning. My dad shot my dagger with AAC 147gr ammo and my Obsidian 9. Then he shot his first AR that i helped him put together from a PSA kit. Dad/son time = priceless. Not too shabby for 74 years old.

Is there rehab for gun addiction lol??? PSA makes it so hard for me to not wanna buy stuff. I bought a AR lower, 5.56 upper and a parts kit put it together and it shoots and works great. No issues. Liked it so much I bought the same things but in 300 blackout. Also great. Didn’t stop there, bought a dagger frame and a completed SW4 cut slide and it’s wonderful. Liked it so much I decided I liked the SW5 slide so I bought that too. On top of that I have a bunch of other guns both pistols and AR rifles/AR pistols. I love them all and I’ve been fortunate I’ve had no problems with any of them. Then comes all the upgrades I did to a bunch of them with triggers, optics, lights and other accessories. Keep in mind I’ve only been doing this for 2 years since I lived in a Commie state and could barely even own a pistol let alone an AR which was completely banned (CT). Oh I forgot about all the ammo I accumulated in different calibers which is a TON. I JUST LOVE THIS HOBBY SO MUCH. Good thing I have a good job to do this although even then my bank account is yelling at me STOP!!!

Just purchased 4 more stripped lowers to build some AR variants: 450 bushmaster, 458 SOCOM, 243 Winchester, 22-250.

Variety is the spice of life

There is something wrong with all you people.

I just spent my entire paycheck on Black Friday deals, and it’s not even Friday yet.

I’m in good company here

I normally spend about $500 and change on my credit card.

This month I’m up to $1300 and change.

I’m about to make that $1400+ with some 300 Hamr magazines.

5.56 magazines don’t work most of the time. I tried it with the Magpul D60. There is a lip that lines up with the 5.56 neck, that prevents you from loading the D60 with 300 Hamr.

Measure 114 is creating a lot of short term business.

I watch Scott with the Kentucky Ballistics YouTube channel, goofing around with his Dad (also named Scott), and it really makes me Miss my own Dad.

The one consolation is, I managed to introduce my Brother and his Son to Shooting, and hanging with them. My Brother had become somewhat estranged from me, and it gladdens me to be reconciled and reconnected with him and his.

My dad has always been into guns. But he has never had/shot an AR. He came to me a few months ago and said “i need an AR”. I took a lower and stored it at his house. He ordered a kit, gifted me the kit and then we built it together. “My” AR is now in his safe. I did a 30/200 zero on his red dot. He was having fun ringing steel.

This is a wonderful thread! I’m reading the comments and thinking, “okay so this is normal after all.” In another thread somewhere on PSA forum, I proposed getting a firearm hobby classified as an addiction and therefore as a health issue, like they did with drug abuse. If we can get that, then your health insurance would pay for your gun hobby purchases. How’s that? It’s kinda like methadone: the treatment for a drug problem is more drugs, ergo, the treatment for firearm addiction is more firearms, right?

Thanks for sharing your problem. I feel much better now! :sunglasses:

If you want to see another hobby that can prevent your wallet from getting too heavy, or prevent your bank account from incurring too much negative interest (read about that scam sometime), check out model railroading! I never got far into it because I’m too lazy to clean out a large enough area in the basement for a layout. That’s the thing with firearms: you can spend a whole lot of money on fun stuff and it doesn’t take up all that much space.

I’m at the point where I have bought a few things I either can’t use because I actually got the wrong thing, or have since replaced with something better and now don’t need. I suppose I could try ebay or craigslist for selling stuff. Ebay seems one of those companies run by idiots who pretend to be socially conscious; they don’t let you sell nazi memorabilia or endangered species parts so they probably don’t allow gun related items. I have to check on that. The endangered species parts were tortoiseshell cufflinks gotten from Japan in the 1960s by a family member, fyi.

Craigslist seems to attract nut cases and scammers. What part of “cash only” sounds like “Western Union wire transfer?”

Even on scamazon I notice that the chinese fraudsters use the term “outdoor sporting equipment” for advertising their counterfeit gun accessories and parts. Ooo, can’t say words like “gun,” “rifle,” “pistol,” etc. Btw, I tried reporting a counterfeit Daniel Defense item to the morons at Daniel Defense. What a waste of my time. Their website has a link to a counterfeit reporting page that’s supposed to have an online form, but the form is missing. I emailed customer service and thoroughly explained. The nitwit replied, just use the form on the web site. Um, yeah, never mind. My one contact with Daniel Defense left me with impression that the company is staffed with fools and I am not missing out on much.

Ok, musing, ranting, and sharing are over now. Thanks for reading.

I’m not a huge fan of the term addiction when it comes to firearms.

I take pride in the term Enthusiast as rarely if ever is that word ever linked to a negative act.

The word addiction rarely if ever speaks well of the person involved unless its in the past tense , as in former addict

Recently I had a person try to rip into me about my addiction to firearms. I was quick to point out that my so-called addiction has yet to generate any downside as I’ve been legally buying guns since the late 70’s and have yet lose any money on any purchase to date…or inflict harm.

Please name any Addiction linked to Negative overtones that gains in value once used? Drugs,Alcohol, Gambling and even shopping all have a health or monitary downside, even Sex addictions can be viewed as a negative when it’s harmful to any of the involved parties?

We as Responsible Gun Owners and Beneficiaries of the 2nd Amendment have an obligation to set the record straight when Wordsmiths with No tangible experience with firearms beyond a soundbite or article written apply words to us that conjure up visions of evil.

I am an American
I am a Veteran
I am a Responsible Gun Owner
I am a Tax Payer

You will treat me with respect and in a manner that all of the above are Self-Evident and without question…and I will in return not encroach on whatever brings you happiness unless it brings harm to me of its own free will.

I am a Responsible Gun Owner…and No Gun real or imagined has a Free Will…it is Not Cells , Skin , Bone or Muscle tissue …it does not act independently as it’s an amalgamation of Metals. Alloys , Polymers and Plastics …not a living thinking thing despite the reverence and love I show mine at times.

Everybody looks to vilify objects…its the intent and acts of the individual that are in question. Take issue with the persons breaking from civil norms the way the numerous established laws are intended to do.
