White oak table project update

Some of yall wanted to follow this project, so here is an update.
Fresh Cut white oak from hurricane Helene damage at my house.

Out of the dry kiln.

Finally got it in the shop. This thing is HEAVY, it about broke my table.

Router sled setup and ready to mill this thing flat.

One side flat

Both sides flattened and made a bunch of sawdust.

Got the bark off, then I milled off another inch to desired thickness.

Wet down after the first round of sanding. This raises the grain of the wood so it can be sanded more.

I probably already have about 12 hours into this project. Next step is to do a seal coat with epoxy. I’ll post an update in a few weeks.

Nice unicorn on the wall. Probably worth a lot of money considering the rarity of the skulls.

I’ve had a piece drying in the shed for over a year 46 inches across, you have just given me some inspiration. Thanks !

I hope so because the meat was worthless.
The small one was pretty good though.
