Alex Pro Firearms (APF) is proud to introduce our Bolt Carrier Groups (BCGs) featuring SP4, an advanced hybrid DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating that has been meticulously developed over the course of a year. SP4 combines remarkable hardness, rated between 2500-3500 HV, with ductility, ensuring toughness without the brittleness often found in standard PVD/DLC thin film coatings. This innovative coating significantly reduces friction and enhances wear resistance for metal components, resulting in a longer lifespan and requiring minimal maintenance often with little to no lubrication. Tested in extreme conditions, SP4 has proven its reliability at temperatures as low as -44 deg F in the Alaskan wilderness, as well as in both Iraq and Afghanistan without lubrication, making it exceptionally advantageous for operations in desert environments and extreme cold. SP4 has successfully passed the ASTM 85 (Annex 1) Salt Fog test, providing optimal hardness and the lowest friction coefficient while retaining the flexibility to "move" with the metal it protects. Each BCG includes a hand-polished bolt carrier with a chrome-lined bore and a staked gas key, alongside a bolt equipped with gas rings, a firing pin, a cam pin and a firing pin retaining pin.
