The Gen 3 Fat Bastard is born from direct feedback from elite long-range shooters, combining APA's rigorous manufacturing standards with cutting-edge design improvements. Key among these updates are three pivotal features. First, the advanced Unique Recoil Profile (URP) tunable top port design allows shooters to finely adjust muzzle movement for optimal target retention. Second, a redesigned lock nut ensures a stable platform without over-rotation. Third, the addition of a fifth Bastard port section further reduces recoil. The URP Top Ports enable shooters to mitigate not only direct recoil but also muzzle rise and lateral movement, adapting to individual rifle characteristics, grip styles, stances and shooting positions. APA has engineered the U.R.P. Adjustable Gas System with precision-placed ports adjacent to maximum pressure points within the barrel, ensuring effective recoil management. The combination of the tunable gas system and APA's signature ports results in minimal sight picture disruption, offering unprecedented stability. With 10 directional gas ports that can be customized to counteract your U.R.P., shooters have countless configurations to maintain target alignment. To fine-tune the brake to your specific U.R.P., begin testing with all gas screws installed and observe reticle movement. Adjust by selectively removing screws based on recoil response: removal of screws on the right shifts the rifle left and vice versa. Ports closer to the brake crown provide subtle adjustments, while those nearer the nut offer more pronounced effects. Once dialed in, secure the screws with Threadtite for reliability.
