The roll pin is an easy pin to damage! Palmetto is a great company over-all.
I am just an amateur with AR's and have bent one gas tub roll pin. They are a tight fit so the firearm will not malfunction. The roll pin has to be extremely tight and as Palmetto states this is an "interference fit" for a reason. I only bent one pin which was my first install. After that I used a little petroleum lube to assist in fitment. The pin needs to be installed correctly. Have heard of guys using special clamping pliers with some electrical tape to keep from scratching the plating. Myself I used a Stanley roll pin punch. The trick is to make sure the pin is put in straight from the beginning of the insert. The lube seemed to assist the pin fitment. Since doing this I have not had any more problems.
great!
great product and always available
Reasonable price but no quality
Ordered it for my PAS Ar-10 build. It's the right length for the barrel I also ordered from PSA but they really messed up the pin hole alignment. There's no way to install the roll pin. I know because I tried and destroyed the roll pin. Now I have to order both the tube and pin from someplace else. Oh and everyone else includes the pin WITH the tube but not PSA?!?! Really dropped the ball on this one.
Comment by PSA: From experience roll pins can require some compression to install. It is an interference fit meaning the roll pin must fit snugly in the hole in order to not come out while firing. If the tube is indeed out of spec it will be replaced under warranty.
