Introducing the PS-31 Binocular Night Vision Device (BNVD), a compact and lightweight dual-tube goggle designed to replace the legacy PS-15. Among dual-tube night vision goggles, the PS-31 stands out as one of the smallest and lightest units available. It features high-performance Gen 3 image intensifier tubes, customizable to meet various operational needs based on direct input from U.S. Operators. The PS-31 enhances system resolution, reduces head-borne weight, improves center of gravity and enhances overall situational awareness with a 50 degree field of view for maximum visibility in the field. These auto gain-capable tubes adjust brightness dynamically to suit changing ground conditions, ensuring optimal image clarity. With independently pivoting tube housings, the PS-31 allows operators to use the goggle in either binocular or monocular configurations. Dual-tube use enhances depth perception and maneuverability over terrain and obstacles, facilitating operation of devices such as control panels and door knobs. Monocular use supports seamless transition between varying lighting conditions typical on the battlefield, switching between night vision and weapon-mounted optics as needed. Moreover, pivoting the tube housings against the helmet surface enables a "flatten" stowage position, reducing profile and enhancing operator safety and equipment longevity.
