All variations of the Montefeltro utilize Benelli's renowned Inertia Driven System. This extremely reliable action is composed of just 3 main parts – the bolt body, inertia spring, and rotating bolt head – and harnesses the inertia of recoil to cycle the next round. This simple, yet robust system eliminates the need to make adjustments, and is able to handle the lightest field loads to heavy magnum shells. The Inertia Driven System prevents residue from entering the action and ensures the gas, smoke, and burnt powder remain in the barrel. This makes the Inertia Driven System run significantly cleaner than gas systems.

The lack of springs or gas cylinders under the forend allows the Montefeltro’s forend to be slim and graceful, while the lightweight, anodized aluminum receiver keeps weight to a minimum.This shotgun is a classic game gun with the advantages of a semi-automatic and features Crio barrel and choke tubes, bolt-lock lever, removable trigger assembly, and a red bar front sight.
