One of the most challenging aspects of fitting a recoil pad has traditionally been the final adjustment of the pad to the wood, as it is easy to accidentally damage the stock with the disc, sanding strip or file, thereby ruining the finish. The B&R recoil pad fitting jig mitigates the risk of stock damage by allowing you to complete the pad fitting entirely separate from the stock. The jig consists of two primary components - (1) an adjustable triangle on which the pad is mounted for sizing and (2) a universal support that attaches to the sanding disc table. The operation is straightforward. First, cut the stock to the desired length and pitch to suit the customer. Attach the pad to the stock and precisely scribe the stock's outline onto the pad. Next, transfer the pad to the jig's base plate, set the pitch angle, place the Jig on its support and trim the pad until the scribed line is just removed (as the line was drawn outside the stock). Finally, test fit the pad to the stock and perform any final adjustments by hand, if necessary. This process ensures that the lines of the stock are accurately continued into the pad, resulting in a perfect fit. The Jig prevents any damage to the stock's finish and simplifies the entire pad mounting process to a quick 15 min task, making the job both easy and highly profitable.
