Does anybody have one?
Tell me more

Chris.

Taylor & Company Firearms is a Store in Winchester Va that specializes in selling Reproduction classis weapons, namely Revolvers of old.

T&C had these 1911’s built by Armscor of the Philippines whose Flagship brand is Rock Island Armory.

They/ Armscor would build 1911’s with Our names on them if we ordered enough at once and the check cleared?

Research reviews of the alike for Rock Island Armory and you’ll get tons of Answers. I own one and mine is basically favorable.

I bought one of the 1911’s in .45ACP Friday when PSA had it on Sale at $320.
Im going to remove all the Springs and Most if not all of tge Metal Injected Molded stuff and build a pistol of my choosing. I use Armscor as a Spring Board.

I’ll include a Pic of my Armscor/ RIA 10mm.

In case you are wondering?

The Paper Clip is my Home Made Take Down Tool that locks the Captured Recoil Spring for disassembly.

Unlike the .45ACP. Armscor uses a Barrel Bushingless Design. So all you have is a Slide and Bull Barrel. I’m not keen on this design…but for what I paid for it Vs. The Colt Delta Elite 10mm’s. You learn to like it.

Being Bushingless just takes a Accurizing posibility out of the equation and adds a wear element into two key and expensive pieces on a 1911…but that would take Tons of shooting to achieve.

Thanks for the reply.

I can’t tell about that specific gun, but I can give you my opinion of 1911’s chambered in 10MM. I like them because I like 10MM and 1911’s, but I always find that I don’t enjoy shooting them. Their recoil doesn’t scare me, but it’s not overly pleasant to shoot either, plus shooting the good full-power stuff always leaves me feeling that I’m beating the gun up, even though it’s chambered in 10MM.

JMO, but if you’re going to give me a .45 ACP gun to take to the range then give me a 1911, but if you’re going to give me a 10MM for pretty much any scenario then give me a Glock. If a 1911 chambered in 10MM rides like an AMC Javelin, then a G20 shoots like a Cadillac. The recoil in a G20 is no more offensive to me than a G17. The G20 may kick a little firmer, but I’ve gotten to where I don’t even pay any attention going from a full-sized 9MM to a G20. The Glock just manages even hot 10MM load extremely well.

With that said if you don’t want a Glock in 10MM, and are feeling a 1911 chamber in 10MM then go for it. Their cool as both 10MM and 1911’s are cool.

I cant say I completely disagree with the above views.

My two 10mm Colt Delta Elites are both vintage pieces from the inaugural year of 1987. One Blued, One Stainless.

I had just left the military that year and was finding my way in Civilian life as well as commercial aviation when these hit the market. Their prices then were a comparative Moon Shot vs my income of the moment. I just wanted one… then one of each.

I own Glock 20 Gen 4 in 10mm and it is a softer shooting weapon. I’m confident the girth of the Double Stack magazine the insures a larger pistol grip helps. I’m certain the Polymer frame acts as a dampening device regarding said recoil. I’m sure it decreases harmonics too.

I can say in all honesty , any trip to the mountains includes the Glock 20 on me…not the lessor capacity 1911 designs I still love a lot.

My goal is to find a 2nd Gen Delta Elite with the Pic Rail , I understand that helps with recoil a slight bit. Id like to find out anyway.

I have amazingly fond memories of the Javelin and AMX from the late 60s and early 70s. You make me want me to get a 1911 in 10mm now  Actually, the G20 sounds like the best way to go for me, if I want to add another caliber.

My dad worked for an AMC/Datsun dealership and would bring home Javelins, AMXs, several models of Datsun, and some other interesting cars. The AMX was my favorite!

I tried to get my dad to get me a 73 Javelin that was on the Holloman AFB lemon lot as a first car back in 1998. He wasn’t feeling that too much.

I used to always want a Delta Elite to complement my Combat Elite. I’ve never shot a Delta Elite, but I do have a buddy with a Gold Cup chambered in 10MM that I’ve shot a few times.
